Combined Saw/Drill cuts rails for railroad industry.
May 20, 2008 -
Used for high-production cutting of ferrous and nonferrous metals, Amsaw R series offers blade changeover time under 3 min, hardened spindle gears ground for minimum backlash, as well as saw blade guide and dampening device. Dry operation means no coolant is needed, double and triple measurement strokes accommodate extra-length cuts, and clamp to unclamp time is 32 sec. For safety, electronic overload device monitors cutting performance and stops saw feed when necessary.

AME'S Combined Saw/Drill Unit Designed for Railroad Industry
Advanced Machine & Engineering Co. (AME) offers the Amsaw R-series saw made specifically to cut rails for the railroad industry. The combined saw/drill unit is designed to improve efficiency and productivity. The saw's benefits include smooth, accurate cuts; durable machinery; and long tool life.
Designed for high-production cutting of ferrous and nonferrous metals, the rail saw offers many features, including a saw blade changeover time of less than 3 minutes, hardened spindle gears ground for minimum backlash, a special saw blade guide and dampening device for accurate cutting to stabilize the blade, a low-maintenance design, dry operation in which no coolant is needed, double and triple measurement strokes for extra length cuts and a 32-second clamp to unclamp time.
An electronic overload device monitors cutting performance and stops the saw feed when necessary; the heavy, welded machine base is ribbed and braced for rigidity; and a chip conveyor conveys chips to the rear of the machine for deposit into a tote box.
The R-series saw also offers a flexible setup. It can be combined with an integrated or inline rail hole drilling for bolted joints at the rail ends or with infeed and outfeed material handling systems.
