LUXIM Brings LIFI(TM) Solid-State High-Intensity Light Source to Street and Area Lighting

Company to showcase 22,000 lumens, 120 lumens-per-watt, 30,000 hour life light source at LIGHTFAIR International

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 14 -- LUXIM Corp., a pioneer and volume manufacturer of solid-state high-intensity lighting, today announced the introduction of a new light source for street and area lighting. The LIFI(TM) STA-40-01 product delivers 22,000 lumens with 120 Lumens per Watt source efficiency and 30,000 hours life. The source has a compact, directional beam with excellent color quality (CRI = 95). The new product boosts LUXIM'S portfolio of high-efficiency light sources that include products for entertainment, projection displays and instrumentation. It will be showcased at the upcoming LIGHTFAIR International trade show in Las Vegas.

"The LIFI-STA-40-01 is our first offering in Street and Area lighting and we are very pleased with the strong interest shown by energy consultants, architects, lighting designers and fixture makers," said LUXIM Chief Executive Officer, Tony McGettigan. "Across the board we see the lighting community looking to increase efficiency, lower maintenance costs and improve the quality of light delivered. The LIFI-STA-40-01 provides all three benefits to applications like architectural, street, pedestrian area, sports courts, big-box retail and industrial high bay."

The new product is compact allowing rapid adoption by retrofitting into existing fixtures. Because the source is directional, the retrofitted unit delivers higher fixture efficiency, improved light distribution and superior color quality. The efficiency improvement can be up to 70 percent.

"LIFI(TM) lighting technology complements our high-performance and energy-saving products for the lighting industry," said Tom Barnes, VP and Business Unit Manager for A.L.P Lighting Products. "Our optical design and component supply leadership work well with the compact, directional source to make efficient and attractive luminaires for a variety of commercial and industrial applications."

For new fixtures, designers can reduce fixture size and use less expensive, lighter-weight materials. At the same time, control systems can be developed to take advantage of the LIFI-STA-40-01's intelligence. The source is rapid on, rapid restrike, dimmable and remotely addressable. These features enable energy-saving modes such as daylight harvesting, occupancy sensing, demand response dimming and more.

LUXIM is working closely with lighting designers and equipment manufacturers to bring a new performance level to installations worldwide.
