Foams meet low out-gassing standards.

May 20, 2008 - Manufactured from ultra-pure Kynar PVDF polymer in process that uses only inert nitrogen gas to expand polymer sheet, ZOTEK® F Foams are in lowest risk category for out-gassing of VOCs and ammonia. Polymer resins are recognized by semiconductor, biotech, and medical industries as having very low extractables that migrate from resin matrix, as well as optimal flammability properties and resistance to chemicals and UV light.

Zotek® F Foams Meet The Standards For Exceptionally Low Out-Gassing

Walton, KY - Following the stringent testing protocols for out-gassing requirements favored by both NASA and the semiconductor industry, Zotefoams Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of cross-linked block foams, has engineered its ZOTEK® F high-performance foams to be exceptionally pure. German-based M+W Zander Products GmbH recently completed a laboratory test that measures the out-gassing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and Ammonia found that the ZOTEK® F foams were categorized in the lowest risk category and permitted to use 50% surface coverage or above in clean-room environments.

ZOTEK® F foams are manufactured from ultra-pure Kynar(TM) PVDF polymer in a unique process that uses only inert nitrogen gas to expand the polymer sheet. Kynar PVDF resin, which is manufactured by Arkema, Inc., are polymer resins that are recognized by the semiconductor, biotech and medical industries as having very low extractables that migrate from the resin matrix. In addition to purity, these resins are also known for their excellent flammability properties and resistance to chemicals and ultraviolet light. Specifically, ZOTEK® F30 and ZOTEK® F40 HT foams have been manufactured from Kynar polymer resins that have been approved by the Food & Drug Admintsration and United States Pharmacopeia.

Zotefoams' unique manufacturing method is recognized worldwide as the purest foam-manufacturing process employed today. Zotefoams extrudes pure PVDF resin into a plastic sheet that is inserted into an autoclave capable of 10,000 psi and 480°F before the material is impregnated with inert nitrogen gas and subsequently expanded into foam. Zotefoams foam materials are used in applications that require extremely high levels of purity, such as diabetic foot orthotics, medical cervical collars and hardware-equipment packaging for the International Space Station.

Zotefoams Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zotefoams plc (LSE: ZTF). Zotefoams is the premier manufacturer of cross-linked block foams. Its products are used in a wide range of markets including sports and leisure, packaging, transport, healthcare, toys, building, marine and the military. Through a unique production process, the Company produces foams that have controlled properties and are of a strength, consistency, quality and purity superior to foams produced by other methods. Zotefoams Inc. is responsible for product sales to the United States, Canada and Mexico. Zotefoams products include a wide range of foam densities, sizes, and physical properties. They also include fire retardant, conductive, and food contact approved foams. For more information, please go to www.zotefoams.com.
