PICMG® 1.0 Full-Size AMD Geode(TM) LX 800 SBC

The NuPRO-720 offers ultra low-power efficiency with fanless design and SATA support

April 10, 2008, Taipei
ADLINK Technology Inc. (TAIEX: 6166) announces the release of the NuPRO-720, a PICMG® 1.0 full-size single board computer (SBC) based on the AMD Geode(TM) LX 800 processor. The NuPRO-720, a new class of fanless x86 SBC supporting SATA, is specifically designed for industrial automation, system integrators, and intelligent transportation systems. The NuPRO-720 also provides integrated VGA functionality, four USB ports, and an onboard CompactFlash® socket.

Based on the AMD Geode(TM) LX 800 processor, the NuPRO-720 is designed to be a cost-effective and low-power solution engineered to operate at less than 20 W under full loading. This extremely energy efficient configuration allows the NuPRO-720 to operate at a lower heat profile than comparable SBCs running Celeron and Pentium class processors. Combined with a fanless heat sink, the NuPRO-720 can operate using a 150 W power supply in an 8-slot wallmount chassis, thus reducing overall power consumption in both factory and stand-alone applications.

The NuPRO-720 also offers a wide range of I/O ports for data processing and storage and is one of the first in this class of SBCs to offer two onboard SATA ports as well as a CompactFlash® slot for greater flexibility in application design. The NuPRO-720 also offers multiple I/O and connectivity options by providing four USB 2.0 ports, two 10/100BASE-T Ethernet ports, two serial ports, and one parallel port.

"When developing this product, our main goal was to create an SBC solution with efficient performance to handle the rigors of factory automation, yet be cool enough to be squeezed into Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) without overheating; all bundled at a competitive price point," said Jeffery Shiue, Director of the Industrial Computing Product Segment at ADLINK.
