New ISOVOLT Titan E Stationary Industrial X-Ray Machine from GE Offers Greater Productivity and Operational Safety
Billerica, Mass.- April 30, 2008. - The new ISOVOLT Titan E stationary X-ray machine from GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies is based on the field-proven ISOVOLT Titan series and offers significant improvements in ease of operation, controllability and on-board logic to allow greater operational productivity and reliability. The new machine will find increasing application in meeting the requirements of system integrators for automated X-ray solutions, as well as being used as a stand-alone X-ray machine for conventional X-ray radiography and radioscopy.
The new Titan E offers the same high out put of 4.5kW as the existing Titan family, with the same maximum tube current of 45 mA, extremely stable high voltage and very low ripple but this is now supported by a control platform that is more intuitive and easier to use. This is the result of an ergonomic, interactive re-design that features a fully graphic screen that clearly displays all operating and set-up parameters, a dynamic menu guide and a consistent method of operation that permits input through a keyboard, a speed-dependent wheel and function keys. It is complemented by a data-supported programming function for setting-up, archiving and activating application-specific exposure programs and failsafe operation to meet international standards.
For logging purposes Titan E can record up to 512 switch-on and shutdown events, as well as 128 warm-up cycles.
Intelligent warm-up is a feature that extends tube operating life. The Titan's built-in real-time clock tracks the machine's operating history and calculates the optimum warm-up cycle. A special extended warm-up program incorporated in Titan E uses tube-specific algorithms to ensure that the tube is used as carefully as possible and further extends its operating life.
System safety has been an important consideration in the re-design and the operating condition of the generator, tube and cable, which are continuously monitored and displayed in accordance with regulatory requirements. Any alarm situations are instantly reported and there is automatic switch-off in the event of lamp failure. Other safety features include dual high voltage contactors with redundancy monitoring, with independent external safety circuits, radiation safety interlock to European and US standards and prevention of unauthorized operation. Cooling water/oil flow rate are also constantly monitored.
The Titan E, which can display text messages in 16 languages, has been designed for stand-alone operation and for integration in complex inspection systems. To ensure simple and trouble-free integration, it includes components, features and protocols such as 0.01 mA Modus, extended warm-up programs, different operating modes, various tubes and software solutions and industrial interfaces, such as RS 232 and Profibus.
