DSL Protectors do not interfere with signal quality.

May 2, 2008 - SDP Series are SIDACtor devices utilizing bridge and biased bridge technologies that provide protection in DSL applications while overcoming performance issues related to capacitance non-linearity. Compatible with GR-1089-CORE and ITU K.20/21 lightning surge withstand specifications, C version offers surge rating of 500 A for a 2 x 10 µS waveshape and 200 A for a 10 x 700 µS waveshape, while B version offers surge rating of 80 A for 10 x 1,000 µS waveshape and 100 A for 10 x 700 µS waveshape.

New Littelfuse SDP SIDACtor® Series DSL Protectors Provide Superior Surge Protection While Maintaining Signal Quality

The SDP and SDP-biased SIDACtor DSL protectors provide bidirectional transient protection with low overshoot and crowbarring speed in nanoseconds without interfering with broadband signals.

DES PLAINES, IL, April 29, 2008 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS) today announced two new SDP Series DSL Protectors, the latest addition to the SIDACtor Broadband Optimized(TM) family of bidirectional overvoltage protectors targeted for high speed applications such as ADSL2+ and VDSL2.

The new devices provide an enhanced level of protection and performance over the current line of SIDACtor products, and protect the signal integrity of Broadband signals such as VDSL2 circuits, by strict control of their parasitic capacitance. They help ensure that equipment will meet key regulatory requirements and assure reliable operation of DSL equipment deployed into remote/hostile locations.

The SDP Series DSL Protectors are SIDACtor devices utilizing bridge and biased bridge technologies that provide enhanced protection in DSL applications while overcoming performance issues related to capacitance non-linearity.

All solid-state overvoltage protective devices exhibit a voltage-dependent capacitance. If not strictly controlled, parisitic capacitance can cause problems such as signal degradation and retraining of DSL modems. The SDP series design uniquely minimizes this negative effect of voltage dependent capacitance.

The SDP series is available with VDRM ratings ranging from 6 V to 320 V and Vs ratings ranging from 25 to 100 V.

This family of products has is compatible with both GR-1089-CORE and ITU K.20/21 lightning surge withstand specifications.

The "C" version offers a surge rating of 500A for a 2x10 µS waveshape and 200A for a 10x700 µS waveshape. The "B" rated version offers a surge rating of 80A for a 10x1000 µS waveshape and 100A for a 10x700 µS waveshape.

The new product line is UL Recognized (File E133083), RoHS (Restrictions On Hazardous Substances) compatible, and has no inherent wear-out mechanism when operated within its specified parameters.

The SDP Series line combines a robust surge rating with a smaller package size to meet OEM demands for higher component density and greater installation efficiency. Its compact 5x6 QFN (Quad Flatpak No-Lead) package has dimensions of 5 x 6 x 1.5 mm (0.197 x 0.237 x 0.06 inches). The tape and reel quantity is 4000.

Availability.OEM samples are available from stock. Reel quantity orders typically ship 8-10 weeks ARO.
