NexTek Launches Ultra-Compact Family of Lightning Arrestors for Applications up to 6GHz

Westford, MA, April 29, 2008 - - NexTek, Inc., the leading designer of best-in-class lightning protection and EMC / power conditioning products and services, announces the E-Class Series designed for optimizing RF performance at frequencies up to 6GHz. The E-Class is also characterized by passing DC without any degradation to 6GHz performance. This new family of ultra-compact SurgeGuard(TM) lightning arrestors addresses the stringent demands of emerging RF applications including Ultra Wideband, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, ground penetrating radar, surveillance, high speed communications systems, 5.0 - 6.0GHz UNII, MMDS, WLL, IMS bands, public safety 4.9GHz and HiperLAN.

The ultra-compact SurgeGuard E-Class Series is based on a gas discharge tube design and is packaged in two small geometry form factors designated PTCONFSAF09E and PTCONxONF09E. The PTCONFSAF09E arrestors measure only 42mm x 24mm, have N-type to SMA-type connectors and can deliver a maximum of 30W (48dBm) of RF power at a maximum through-current of 5A. The PTCONxONF09E arrestors measure only 50mm x 24mm, have N-type connectors and can deliver a maximum of 30W (48 dBm) of RF power at a maximum through-current of 10A.

All E-Class Series products include a 90V gas discharge tube and have a nominal impedance of 50W. Additional specifications include excellent lightning transient protection performance, low return loss (VSWR), top-rated materials, superb construction and are designed to be both waterproof and dustproof (IP68 Standard). The robust SurgeGuard E-Class Series provides a 10x multiple strike capability @ 5kA and a 20kA (8 x 20μs) surge capability.

The E-Class Series is available with a variety of connectors including N(Female)-N(Female); N(f)-N(m); N(f)-SMA(f). The E-Class series of lightning arrestors is currently available and is value-priced in OEM quantities starting at $33 each.
