Line Driver helps A/V installers solve HDMI problems.
April 25, 2008 -
Direct coupled from input to output, HDMI Line Driver utilizes CURxE Light technology to diagnose and correct corrupted communication data on HDCP and EDID channels that would otherwise degrade A/V quality. Four LED lights serve as self-diagnostic monitoring indicators to verify Hot Plug detection, +5 V status, HDCP, and EDID. Based on LED activity, installer or end-user will see if problem is downstream, upstream, or related to hardware inconsistency.
Honeywell CURxE Light Technology, Line Driver Helps A/V Installers and Homeowners Quickly Solve HDMI Problems
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI, April 4, 2008 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced a new HDMI line driver and diagnostic unit designed for the growing numbers of home theater installers who are using HDMI cables to transmit audio, video and communication signals. Direct coupled from input to output for maximum video bandwidth, the compact, easy-to-install unit features Honeywell's unique CURxE Light technology to diagnose and correct corrupted communication data on the HDCP and EDID channels that would otherwise degrade audio/video quality.
"Many HDMI problems are the result of inconsistent capacitive loading caused in part by source devices," explained David Coleman, Director of Consumer Electronics, Honeywell. "These problems can occur regardless of the length of HDMI cable used by installers. Our new line driver automatically seeks out this corrupted data and returns it to its intended dynamic range for simple and reliable performance."
Four LED lights on the unit serve as self-diagnostic monitoring indicators to show verification of Hot Plug detection, +5 Volts status, HDCP, and EDID. Based on LED activity, the installer or end-user will see the problem whether it's downstream, upstream or related to hardware inconsistency.
"Armed with this type of information, installers will dramatically reduce time needed to troubleshoot HDMI connected systems," said Coleman. The new line driver is HDMI v1.3 compliant and support HDTV resolutions up to 1080p. It is immediately available through Honeywell Security dealers with an MSRP of $199.
