NeoMagic® Announces Production Release of MiMagic 8 Application Processor for Mobile TV Enabled Smart Phones and Other Handheld Products

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 14 -- NeoMagic Corporation (NASDAQ:NMGC), a leader and pioneer in developing and delivering low-power solutions for multimedia-rich mobile phones and handheld devices, announced today the production release of its latest applications processor, the MiMagic 8. The MiMagic 8 is designed for mobile TV enabled smart phones, personal media players, GPS navigation devices and other handheld products.

The latest applications processor features NeoMagic's high-performance, proprietary dual Associative Processing Array (APA) technology to deliver a rich multimedia experience at very low power consumption. The MiMagic 8 extends multimedia capabilities by doubling the array size from the current generation products to meet the growing consumer demand for a rich multimedia experience.

"Mobile TV is a very exciting and fast growing market. Research firm TeleAnalytics forecasts over 200 million users worldwide by the year 2011 from the current level of more than 26 million users, a compounded annual growth rate of 68%. The multimedia engine in the MiMagic 8 is fully programmable, making it very easy to support all the major mobile TV standards around the world including ISDB-T, T-DMB, DVB-H, etc.," said Douglas R. Young, President and CEO of NeoMagic Corporation. "This latest applications processor extends our ability to deliver complete manufacturing kits for mobile TV enabled smart phones and other handheld products for the global market. These manufacturing kits include complete form-factor hardware and software reference designs providing our customers a fast path to production, while saving significant development cost," he added.

The MiMagic 8 applications processor eliminates the need for a separate companion chip to perform the multimedia processing for mobile TV in smart phone designs. In most systems, the MiMagic 8 will be the primary system host. In addition to mobile TV, the MiMagic 8 can also deliver a list of high-performance multimedia applications including digital still camera, digital video recorder/player, audio player, 3D gaming, and GPS mapping.

The MiMagic 8 applications processor is now available in production quantities. More information on MiMagic 8 product is available at http://www.neomagic.com/.
