Leviton Expands Powerswitch(TM) Safety Disconnect Switch Line Offering Disconnect Switch and Locking Receptacle in One Enclosure

Little Neck, NY, April 11, 2008 -- Leviton expands the PowerSwitch(TM) safety disconnect switch line to include the new Enclosed Disconnect Switch with Receptacle (EDSR-23). EDSR-23 combines a 30 Amp, 600 Volt AC safety disconnect switch and NEMA locking receptacle in one enclosure, making for faster installation, easier maintenance, and longer device life. Choose EDSR-23 for powering portable cord connected equipment such as pumps and bottling stations that must be moved from location to location.

Only 6-1/4 inches wide, the slim EDSR-23 easily fits between the I-beam's flanges, yet still provides generous wiring space for both switch and receptacle. EDSR-23 accepts standard 20 or 30 Amp NEMA locking flush receptacles rated up to 600V and is shipped complete with grounding plate and wires for connecting receptacle to switch.

The EDSR-23 enclosure, made from impact-resistant, non-conductive Valox® PBT thermoplastic features a spring-loaded flip lid that protects the receptacle when not in use, and a bottom hinged cover for fast, safe access during installation and maintenance. Four mounting feet with 5-position settings, generous interior wiring space, and drill marks for bottom or top conduit feed means EDSR-23 handles the broadest range of installations. The housing's captive stainless steel screws remain securely in place when the cover is open and the bottom hinged cover pivots 180 degrees for trouble-free servicing.

The front operated red "pistol grip" handle with integrated lockout meets OSHA safety regulations and provides quick visual confirmation of the switch's status. One 10 Amp normally-open auxiliary contact is factory installed for remote monitoring; and, the EDSR-23 easily accommodates additional auxiliary contacts, including normally-closed contacts.

When used with a Leviton Wetguard® plug and seal package (included), the device complies with IP66 and NEMA 4X and 12K environmental ratings. For environments requiring less rigorous protection from dust, airborne contaminants and splashing water, the EDSR-23 can be used with the Leviton line of Black & White(TM) locking plugs or V-0 Max(TM) locking receptacles, as well as other manufacturers' devices to provide a rating of IP54 and NEMA enclosure rating of 3R.

The Leviton EDSR-23 is UL-508 listed and cUL, CSA Specified and is backed by Leviton's Limited Two Year Warranty. For more information contact Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc., 59-25 Little Neck Parkway, Little Neck, NY 11362-2591, Phone: 1-800-323-8920, www.leviton.com.
