Search Engine Software features automatic facet generation.
April 11, 2008 -
Designed for OEM Search market, Embedded Active Intelligence Engine(TM) automatically selects, calculates, and displays most relevant facets on-the-fly with no pre-computing or re-indexing required. Core occupies less than 10 Mb of disk without compromising search functionality. All functionality is accessible through Developer FIRST(TM) API, which includes SDK, developer extranet, task-oriented documentation, sample front-end code and integration logic, and library of configurations.
Next-Generation OEM Search Engine Features 10 MB Core Footprint and Automatic Facet Generation
NEWTON, Mass., April 7, 2008 /-- Attivio, Inc. today announced the release of its Embedded AIE (Active Intelligence Engine(TM)). Embedded AIE is the first search engine specifically designed from the ground up for the OEM Search market. Attivio designed Embedded AIE around three key criteria: configuration, integration and performance. The result is a product that is efficient, easy to use and reliable while providing simple integration, true incremental scalability and a tiny footprint.
"The amount of content that is generated within the enterprise is growing exponentially," said Sue Feldman, research vice president, content technologies group at IDC. "In today's information-centric environment, the solutions that will help organizations succeed must include search as an integral and strategic component of their applications so that their customers can get to their content when they need it."
Major features and benefits of Embedded AIE include:
-- Efficiency - The Embedded AIE core occupies less than 10MB of disk without compromising search functionality because of its modular architecture. It can index 100 million documents per server, with the index typically 20 to 40 percent of the source data. As a single Java instance, it is easy to install, configure and deploy.
-- Intelligent Facet Discovery - Embedded AIE automatically selects, calculates and displays the most relevant facets on the fly with no pre-computing or re-indexing required.
-- Developer Network - All functionality is accessible through the Developer FIRST(TM) API, a programming interface designed by engineers, for engineers. Included with the API are a complete SDK, developer extranet, task-oriented documentation, sample front-end code and integration logic, and a library of configurations for a range of common uses.
-- Flexible Processing Model - Embedded AIE enables complete control for processing complex content, queries and results (e.g. email attachments, ZIP files). Users can create conditional and looped process workflows that can call out to external systems or trigger events along the way.
-- Full Search Experience - Embedded AIE offers a complete range of search features such as spell-correction, stemming, synonym expansion, stop word removal, fielded queries, proximity, zero-result handling and multi-variant relevancy boosting (by field, freshness, completeness, etc.). Embedded AIE also supports entity extraction, clustering, multiple thesauri and ACL ingestion for a secure search environment.
-- True Structured Data Ingestion - Embedded AIE can stream database content into its engine directly, dynamically joining the tables within the engine rather than executing pre-defined SQL queries that require the source database to execute expensive JOIN operations.
"For many ISVs, search can be a conundrum; they know they need it, but until now they have had to sacrifice the speed and performance of their core technology in order to deliver it," said Ali Riaz, Attivio's Chief Executive Officer. "At Attivio, we have created an embedded product that not only addresses these concerns, but includes advanced functionality to enhance the customer experience, providing a true competitive differentiator for our partners' products. By embracing a flexible, scalable and easy-to-implement search engine, our ISV partners can focus on the value their applications bring to their customers, not on sustaining the underlying search technology."
Attivio's CTO, Sid Probstein added, "This release is the culmination of ideas from some of the best engineers in the industry. We focused on the functional and architectural issues we felt mattered most to the OEM Search customer-that really had to be developed from product inception to work. Some of these features aren't glamorous-such as document density, footprint and true incremental scalability-but we knew they were extremely important to our market. Others, we know are ground-breaking-dynamic facet generation, for instance, and our approach to ingesting structured data."
