New tna Automatic Inserter Technology Launches at Interpack

Dasseldorf, Germany Trade Fair Center, 24-30 April 2008, Hall 17, stand A28
tna's inserter system offers 0% missed inserts, doubles manual speeds

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY (April 24-30, 2008)-tna, leading supplier of packaging and processing solutions for food production companies worldwide, unveils new automatic inserter technology at Interpack. tna's inserter is designed to automatically place singular 3D objects into tna's robag® 3 vertical form, fill and seal (VFFS) packaging equipment, completely eliminating missed inserts and manual labor.

Operation is simple. The operator selects a set up a program on the system's existing touch key pad to run the tna robag® 3 with inserters. tna's inserter system is so accurate, it offers 0% missed inserts, and reduces the number of multiple inserts dramatically at inserting speeds of 100 bpm, doubling manual speeds 40-50 bpm. The system provides an emergency shut off to protect machinery if a shutdown is required.

Inserts are fed into an 80L hopper in a bulk or loose state where they are then vibrated on demand into the tna inserter's rotary vibrating bowl. The inserter's three mechanical arms use vacuum points to pick the individual inserts from the vibrating bowl. The vacuum uses pressure to ensure it has successfully picked an insert. The bag maker signals when each insert is to be dropped down a chute and into a pocket on the indexing conveyor. The conveyor indexes on demand and feeds the robag® 3 VFFS bagger through an opening on a specially designed former.

tna's inserter can be added to most existing robag® 3 rotary jaw machines on site. The inserter is not designed to handle 2D objects or to be a replacement for card or bandolier inserters. Maximum insert size is 110 mm in any direction by 35mm thick, and weighing no more that 25g. Minimum insert thickness is 5 mm. All inserts must be presented in flexible packaging to allow vacuum pick up.

For over 25 years, tna has set the benchmark in the industry for vertical form, fill and seal (VFFS) packaging systems, creating highly efficient machines, using fewer parts with a simple design to increase maximum output and flexibility. Today, tna provides a complete line of products from its well known robag® VFFS Baggers; roflo® Product Distribution & Accumulation Equipment; Seasoning Systems; Multihead Scales; Checkweighers; Date Coders; Metal Detectors, Case Packers; Palletizers; and Complete Processing Equipment.

tna core products offer a range of robag® stand-alone and turn-key systems that are renowned in the industry for bagging speed capabilities, efficiency and overall performance. The robag® VFFS system has experienced much success in the snack, confectionery, biscuit, cereal, pasta, powder and fresh produce markets, and can form pillow, block bottom, quattro, string and canoe bags. tna remains committed to both its customers and the industry, and strives to provide the highest-quality systems and services available.
