Minicom Unveils 2-in-1 KVM Switch/Rack Console at Interop Las Vegas 2008
Jerusalem, Israel- Minicom Advanced Systems, a leading developer of KVM switch and extension technology, is unveiling its new combined KVM switch and KVM drawer console, the SmartRack 116/116 IP at this year's Interop in Las Vegas April 27th to May 2nd. With the 2-in1 unit users can switch between 16 servers then access and control anyone of them.
The whole SmartRack product line comes standard with 17" TFT LCD screens. The SmartRack comes in two versions: the Smart Rack 116 for local access and the SmartRack 116 IP for combined local and remote access. Those with the SmartRack 116 who over time find they want to add the element of remote access and control can do so by upgrading to the SmartRack 116 IP without having to replace the rack console. The SmartRack 116 IP is KVM.net enabled and falls under its management umbrella which is ideal for those looking for centralized management. KVM.net is a central management appliance that provides accessibility, administration and secure management of KVM IP devices.
The SmartRack 116/116 IP console conveniently slides into only 1U of rack space for storage saving on the total cost of ownership of server rooms by freeing up more U space for other servers or devices. The SmartRack 116/116 IP series is based on Minicom's innovative ROC technology in which each computer/ server is directly connected to the switch via the ROC using standard CAT5 cable at a distance of up to 30m/98ft in a star configuration.
Benny Hayumi, Product Manager for the SmartRack 116/116 IP explains the market demands which led to the development of this new solution. "This is ideal for those who need both the console and switch together. Most server racks require both a KVM switch and rack console to control their servers. Why buy two units separately that may or may not be compatible when you can buy both together from a single manufacturer ensuring its compatibility? This 2-in-1 solution reduces cable clutter and makes life at the rack less hazardous and streamlined."
Both the Smart Rack 116 and Smart Rack 116 IP are now shipping.
