NetEx Adds Sync on Demand Capability to HyperIP to Optimize Initial Data Center DR Replication

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - April 1st, 2008 - NetEx, the leader in high speed DR over IP, today announced Sync on Demand capability for its award-winning HyperIP® Data Center Acceleration solution,. This gives users a free bandwidth upgrade to perform an initial data synchronization operation between the main data center and the disaster recovery site and helps with the seamless integration of new backup software implementations.

The new Sync on Demand feature is the latest move by NetEx to maximize the customer value of the highly-scalable HyperIP platform. The company previously launched a Recovery on Demand function with a similar temporary free performance upgrade for customers who experience a major outage at the main location in order to speed their recovery operations up the maximum of 800 Mbps. With the new Sync on Demand functionality, when customers first install HyperIP, the unit will include a temporary software key to run at the maximum data rate based upon the available bandwidth so they can perform the full data synchronization operation in the most efficient manner. Subsequent replication operations will return to the maximum speed of the software license purchased, and includes only changed data blocks, minimizing the amount of data that needs to be sent to the remote DR site during normal production timeframes.

"The innovative software-focused design of the HyperIP platform gives us the flexibility to build in a broad range of unique features to constantly improve the customer value proposition of the industry's only Data Center Acceleration appliance," said Diamond Lauffin, founder of the Lauffin Group and a consultant to NetEx. "While other vendors are still trying to figure out remote office-to-data center replication, NetEx is the only vendor focused on the specific needs of data center-to-data center replication and DR. Capabilities such as Sync on Demand and Recovery on Demand are a direct response to the unique high-end requirements of customers who need to optimize their recovery time objectives as a business imperative or put the health of the company in jeopardy because of data unavailability and application downtime."

NetEx sells HyperIP appliances in a variety of scalable configurations, based on the customer's bandwidth requirements, with data rates ranging from 1 Mb/s up to 800 Mb/s. Unlike low-end WAN optimizers, HyperIP is not constrained with architectural restrictions of hardware-limited fixed data rate designs. To improve the data rate performance beyond the hardware-enforced limits, customers of those entry-level products need to perform a forklift upgrade and install entire new systems - both at the local data center and remote site - wasting time and the initial hardware investment. NetEx eliminates these problems with the scalable software design at the core of HyperIP, enabling customers to scale up performance as needed on the same hardware platform with a simple non-intrusive software key code.

About HyperIP
HyperIP is NetEx's business continuity and disaster recovery optimization solution for backup, recovery and data replication applications. It provides unmatched performance for moving TCP data efficiently using patent-pending technology that accelerates and optimizes the industry-leading data replication and file transfer applications by aggregating multiple data replication applications over a shared connection while mitigating the inherent network latency and network disruption for long-distance remote TCP/IP data transmissions. HyperIP line-optimization appliances support long-distance data transfers at up to 800 Mb/s, the highest performance of any optimization appliance on the market, and 25 to more than 100 percent faster than competitive products. Transfer speed is optimized for the full range of data management applications, including backup & remote replication and business continuance/disaster recovery (BC/DR). HyperIP has been qualified with EMC's SRDF, Centera Replicator and Celerra Replicator, TrueCopy from Hitachi Data Systems, IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager and Global Mirror, SnapVault and SnapMirror from Network Appliance, DataGuard and DBsync from Oracle and Symantec's NetBackup, Replication Exec and Volume Replicator.
The NetEx HyperIP Data Center Acceleration solution is currently available in a variety of scalable configurations, based upon bandwidth required with data rates ranging from 1.5 Mb/s up to 800 Mb/s with pricing starting at $6K - $8K per appliance.
