Light/Moisture Cure Adhesive bonds to silicones, plastics.

April 2, 2008 - Able to eliminate part racking and allow immediate quality control testing, Loctite® 5240(TM) is designed for use on medical devices that incorporate silicone materials or require flexible bond joints or coatings. It cures within 30 sec upon exposure to suitable UV/visible light source or within 24-72 hr at room temperature in shadowed areas. Adhesive meets ISO-10993 requirements and demonstrates tear strengths in excess of 75 lb/in. and elongation of 270% in cured state.

Fast Processing Loctite® Light/Moisture Cure Silicone Offers High Adhesion to Silicones and Plastics

Rocky Hill, Conn. - Henkel Corporation has introduced a new light and moisture curing silicone adhesive designed for use on medical devices that incorporate silicone materials or require highly flexible bond joints or coatings. Loctite® 5240(TM) Silicone Adhesive cures within 30 seconds on exposure to a suitable UV/visible light source, with cure in shadowed areas taking place at room temperature in 24 to 72 hours.

Loctite® 5240(TM) eliminates part racking and allows immediate quality control testing. To ensure robust assemblies, the product offers high bond strengths on silicone and plastics including polycarbonate. The silicone demonstrates tear strengths in excess of 75 pounds per inch and an elongation of 270% in the cured state, resulting in tough, yet flexible bond lines. As it meets ISO-10993 requirements, this adhesive is ideal for use on catheters, respiratory devices and connections, medical tubing, and tracheotomy devices. Loctite® 5240(TM) cures to depths of 0.75 inches and delivers a colorless bond line.
