Aperture Launches the Industry's First Complete Product Suite for Data Center Service Management(TM)
The Aperture Data Center Solution provides an integrated set of products to holistically manage the data center
STAMFORD, Conn., March 31 -- Aperture, the leading global provider of software for managing the physical infrastructure of data centers, has launched the first complete suite of products for Data Center Service Management(TM) (DCSM(TM)). The Aperture Data Center Solution combines VISTA Data Center Configuration Management, VISTA Infrastructure Process Management, VISTA Infrastructure Monitoring, and VISTA Capacity Management.
DCSM is a new discipline that ensures the data center is managed holistically using best-practice processes that span the IT and Facilities teams. It extends the principles of IT Service Management (ITSM), a framework for managing IT services from a business rather than technical perspective, into the data center infrastructure. ITSM is often implemented using the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). DCSM brings the management of space, power and cooling into the ITSM framework and applies ITSM (and ITIL) principles - such as configuration management, change management and capacity management - to the physical resources of the data center. Introducing DCSM enables data centers to move from focusing on technology, towards focusing on business services; and from 'reactive fire-fighting' towards proactive planning and management. It replaces conflicting priorities between IT and Facilities with shared processes and systems.

The Aperture Data Center Solution Suite is the industry's first product suite to cover planning and management of resources; operational control of people and processes within the data center; and infrastructure monitoring for real-time information on the state of the data center. The suite comprises:
-- VISTA Data Center Configuration Management, which is the single source for information (reporting and analytics) on the data center infrastructure, providing the visual management of the equipment, space, power, cooling and port connectivity. It automates configuration management processes as they relate to the data center and integrates the required data center configuration repository into the organization's overall configuration management database (CMDB) in a federated model.
-- VISTA Capacity Management, which aligns business forecasts with the current state and consumption trends for the infrastructure so that data center capacity can be proactively managed and future data center requirements can be accurately predicted. This ensures service delivery is optimized, costs are controlled and the objectives of the business are supported.
-- VISTA Infrastructure Process Management, which revolutionizes the way companies manage the data center environment by providing best practice processes for equipment installs, moves and decommissions. It is tightly integrated with the VISTA configuration repository to reduce risks associated with changes (as defined by ITIL) and is configurable to meet the specific process requirements of organizations.
-- VISTA Infrastructure Monitoring, which is a robust solution to monitor the status and impact of the critical data center infrastructure through a "single pane of glass." It provides a vendor-independent monitoring platform, which interfaces with the broader enterprise monitoring systems to extend monitoring of the data center facility with an IT perspective.
