IEEE-1394b LightWise Cameras are 5-megapixel devices offering 2,592 x 1,944 resolution running at sustained 12 fps. With image buffer of 128 MB, cameras are controlled through 1394 interface, which includes fully programmable image processing pipeline and dynamic range/gamma control LUT. They utilize 800 Mbps 1394b bus that supports applications such as optical inspection and are available in color and monochrome versions.
Imaging Solutions Group Introduces 800 Mbps 1394b Cameras and 1394b Link Layer IP
Rochester, NY -
ISG introduces the LightWise 1394b 800Mbps Camera Family.
The high speed 800 Mbps IEEE-1394b LightWise Camera Family is now shipping. The first camera is a 5 MegaPixel 1394b Camera which offers full resolution 2592 x 1944 running at sustained 12 fps. In addition this camera has a much larger image buffer of 128MB. The LightWise LW-5-S-1394b camera is available now in both color and monochrome versions. All camera controls are done via the 1394 interface, which includes a fully programmable image processing pipeline and dynamic range/gamma control LUT for any desired response curve and wide range of triggering and strobe control capabilities. These cameras come packaged with driver software and a user's manual.
ISG implemented the 1394b Link Layer as an IP Core solution in Verilog and it can be ported to any FPGA or ASIC solution. Currently implemented in a Xilinx Spartan 3 FPGA for simplicity, low-cost, & space-efficiency it is fully compatible with IEEE-1394 IIDC DCAM specifications. ISG is a Xilinx Alliance partner and will offer this IP as a core solution for customers seeking 1394b Link Layer technology.
The increased bandwidth of the 800Mbps 1394b bus will applications such as Optical inspection to capture higher resolution images, process them and take measurements faster than could previously be done. This increases the overall optical inspection speed and reduces the time for such measurements to take place. Security and Surveillance systems can benefit by getting higher frame rates transmitted over longer distances.
All area cameras from ISG incorporate the ISG Image Pipeline and can be
programmed with customer supplied algorithms inside the on-board FPGA. All ISG cameras are fully compliant to the IEEE-1394 IIDC DCAM Specification 1.3 or later. These cameras are guaranteed to work with any compatible software applications complying to this standard such as, National Instruments VBAI & IMAQ, a&b Software ActiveDCAM and ImageWarp, Adcis Aphelion, Norpix StreamPix and many others.
