DeWALT Launches Heavy-Duty 36V Hammerdrill/Drill/Driver with Improved Ease of Use and Ergonomics for Increased Productivity

-- New NANO(TM) Phosphate Lithium Ion Battery Offers Users Twice the Amount of Recharges -

March 2008 - DeWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its new heavy-duty 36V hammerdrill/drill/driver (DC901KL). DeWALT engineered the DC901KL with a 36V NANO(TM) Phosphate Lithium Ion battery that provides two times more recharges than traditional NiCad batteries. The DC901KL is part of DEWALT's existing NANO(TM) Technology family that combines longer cycle life, lighter weight and greater performance in a system of eight 36V tools.

The DC901KL was built from the ground up with innovative features and increased levels of power, runtime and performance, while maintaining a similar weight to 18V hammerdrill/drill/drivers. DeWALT 36V with NANO(TM) Technology features exclusive batteries that are designed with unique NANO(TM) Phosphate Lithium Ion cells that provide users with increased battery durability and cycle life, offering 2,000 recharges.

The new 36V DC901KL is engineered with an easy-to-use mode section. This allows users to easily transition among drilling, screwdriving and hammerdrilling modes. DeWALT built the DC901KL with a more compact tool body and lighter weight design for improved ease of use on the jobsite. The DC901K also has a patented three-speed transmission that optimizes the speed applied to each application, offering professional end users maximum performance for various heavy-duty applications. For example, first speed is ideal for use with hole saws and self feed bits when drilling large holes in wood. Second speed is ideal for use with auger bits or screwdriving. Third speed is ideal for drilling into concrete with hammer mode.

For improved bit retention, the DC901KL is equipped with an all-metal ½" self-tightening chuck that continually tightens during operation. The 36V hammerdrill is also designed with high-levels of durability and reliability to withstand the most demanding applications and the most extreme jobsite environments. For added user comfort and control, the DC901KL has more rubber on the gripping surface and an anti-slip comfort grip on the handle of the drill.

The DC901KL has the ability to complete a variety of heavy-duty applications, such as drilling in wood with self feed bits, auger bits and hole saws, driving lag bolts and hammerdrilling in concrete. DeWALT offers three cordless systems with NANO(TM) Technology - 18V, 28V and 36V. By offering these voltages with NANO(TM) Technology, DeWALT is able to provide users with an extensive range of power tools that satisfy a wide scope of user demands on the jobsite.
