Ferraz Shawmut Expanded Rotary Disconnect Switch Offering Saves Time and Money

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (March 3, 2008) - Ferraz Shawmut, a global leader in the field of circuit protection, announces exceptional upgrades to its popular UL98 Rotary Disconnect Switch offering. The upgrades include a new range of pistol handles and shafts, more compact fusible and non-fusible service entrance rated disconnect switches, and a new rod-driven option for flange operated switches.

The pistol handles possess lower profiles and can be used in double door (dead front door) applications. The ergonomic grip allows for easier operation. For NEMA 1, 3R and 12 applications, the pistol handles include a snap-in lock nut feature for front mounting without opening the door.

"The new pistol handles offer greater aesthetics, ergonomics and functionality for quick installations and a consistent look for OEMs and panel builders using our entire switch range," said Mike Quinlan, Business Development Manager - Switch Products.

The compact UL98 switches serve as the main disconnects for all electrical panels in service entrance rating applications. Users gain valuable real estate within the panel through new gear boxes that allow for direct mounting of auxiliary contacts onto the switches. With no contact holder required, this saves time and money.

The rod flange is used with Ferraz Shawmut side operated switches and flange handles to satisfy NFPA 79 applications. It also suits those who prefer to use flange handles instead of front rotary handles coupled with unique NFPA79 kits. This solution is more cost effective than cable operated options.
