VersionOne Introduces SDK, Promoting Quick Custom Solutions for Agile Teams
New SDK Enables 5 Times Faster Application Development
ATLANTA, March 11 -- VersionOne, the # 1 Agile project planning and management software provider, today announced the immediate availability of its V1: Platform Software Development Kit (SDK), the latest deliverable in its open-source integration platform. Leveraging the SDK allows customers and partners to easily build custom integrations, utilities and widgets, extending the V1: Platform to meet their unique needs. By providing "integration plumbing", the SDK simplifies and speeds the process of integrating new functionality into existing environments, helping customers gain greater value from their application investments. Included in the VersionOne SDK is documentation, application samples and programming references.
"VersionOne's open-source integration platform simplifies and streamlines the process of integrating with external systems, such as a test automation tools, bug trackers, or code management solutions", said Robert Holler, Chief Executive Officer. "Customers want best-of-breed Agile development environments, however they don't want to spend a lot of time integrating the different tools. Using our SDK, development time is 5 times faster than normally required to build a custom integration", said Holler.
VersionOne Reference SDK Toolkit
A series of sample applications built on the SDK are provided and can be used out-of-the-box or as learning tools to help expedite the custom application or integration development process.
-- Task Manager: A task tray utility that allows users to view, update, change ownership and close tasks, tests, defects and stories within VersionOne, saving time by eliminating the need to log into the application.
-- Estimator Tool: Many agile development teams use the practice of relative estimation. The tool supports relative estimation by allowing users to easily divide items or features into a small number of groupings and quickly apply the same estimated value to all items in each group, accelerating the planning process while removing unnecessary complexity.
-- Screenshot Tool: Helps a user capture a screenshot and directly attach the image to an item within VersionOne, without having to first save to disk.
-- Attachment Tool: Permits users to easily attach a file to any asset in VersionOne including stories, defects, tasks, or tests.
-- SVN Workitem Tool: Helps users add workitem IDs via drag-and drop into the TortoiseSVN, an easy-to-use interface to subversion, virtually eliminating errors when cross-referencing source code check-ins to the associated task or defect in VersionOne.
With this release, VersionOne provides a very powerful method for customers to go beyond the company's unique portfolio of free, open-source software integrations to quickly and easily build their own integrations. Other previously released plug-n-play integrations include JIRA, Subversion, Bugzilla, FitNesse and HP Mercury's Quicktest Pro as well as Eclipse and Visual Studio, two of the most widely used integrated development environments (IDEs).
Availability and Pricing
VersionOne provides all integrations as free, open-source software via the VersionOne Community Site (http://community.versionone.com/downloads/default.aspx). Interested customers and partners can download the source code to further customize integrations for their unique environment. Unlike other Agile tool providers, there are no hidden charges for use of the integrations, providing a much lower total cost of ownership of a VersionOne solution.
