Netlist Delivers Industrial-Grade, Secure Digital Cards to OEMs

Netlist's non-volatile flash cards meet the demands of extreme environments and provide emerging application support not offered by competitors' solutions

IRVINE, Calif., March 10 / / - Netlist, Inc. (NASDAQ:NLST), a leading supplier of highly customized memory subsystem solutions to server, high-performance computing and telecommunications applications, today announced the release of its SD1.1 Industrial Grade Secure Digital (SD) Flash Card. Netlist's SD Flash Card is optimized for performance, endurance, ruggedized packaging, and leverages the SD-compliant form factor and interface, while retaining the reliability of Netlist's other industrial-quality flash products. The third in the company's series of solid-state solutions for the Industrial Flash market, the SD Flash Card builds on the success of Netlist's recently introduced Industrial Grade PC Card. This latest introduction is a testament to Netlist's focus on providing a complete product family of high-performance, reliable Flash solutions for the industrial market and paves the way for additional device rollouts later this year.

Netlist's Industrial Grade SD Flash Card is designed for mission-critical applications requiring the highest levels in data integrity including networking equipment, medical appliances, GPS systems, and data recorders. By utilizing a state-of-the-art injection molding process during the manufacturing stage, Netlist's SD cards are significantly more robust and better equipped for use in more challenging industrial environments when compared to other solutions in the commercial and industrial SD card space.

"Many experts consider Secure Digital to be the fastest growing form factor. However, there are very few choices when it comes to serving the needs of the OEM market," said Jon Dobson, director of the Flash Business Unit for Netlist. "We chose to leverage our best-in-class core processor technology and combine it with advanced wear leveling, ECC and flash management algorithms, while developing the Industrial Grade Secure Digital Flash Card. By providing a true industrial-grade solution with SLC NAND flash and ensuring a fixed bill-of-materials, Netlist is able to meet the critical demands of the networking and other demanding OEM markets."

Providing 128MB to 2GB densities of nonvolatile storage, the SD Flash Card demonstrates Netlist's commitment to its Flash division and the delivery of an ever-expanding solid state solution portfolio. The SD Flash Card utilizes the latest Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND flash architecture and allows for a controlled bill of materials (BOM) to support full product traceability. Differentiating itself from competitors' 8-bit microcontroller offerings that fail to offer the same performance capabilities, Netlist's SD Flash Card features a 32-bit RISC processor, which incorporates a state-of-the art ECC engine and wear-leveling algorithm that results in compelling performance improvements.

According to in-house benchmarking tests and ongoing OEM evaluations, the SD Flash Card provides a sustained read performance of up to 18MB/s and a sustained write performance of up to 15MB/s. Netlist's SD Flash Card is able to support a wide range of temperatures. Temperature support capabilities for Commercial temperatures range from 0 to 70 degrees C, while Industrial temperatures range from -40 degrees to +85 degrees C.

Availability and Pricing

Netlist's Industrial-Grade Secure Digital Flash Card is currently sampling with volume production scheduled for March 2008. Pricing is available upon request.
