Precision Diaphragm Chucks for Clamping

Northfield Precision Instrument Corporation is a leader in the design and manufacture of precision workholding air and diaphragm chucks. Northfield manufactures precision air chucks with a guarantee of accuracy within millionths. Northfield is pleased to announce it's new Special 5" Diaphragm Chuck for clamping applications.

Model DPS-5s is a special 5 inch diameter chuck, air open diaphragm clamp. Chuck has 8 sets of jaws that repeat to 1/10,000 when removed and replaced. Six different stops mount to center of chuck for positive axial location. Jaws are alloy steel hardened to 58/63 Rockwell "C". Chuck is mounted to a special balance machine that finds the center of gravity of the cast turbine blades and drills a centering hole in that position. The part is now rotated about this center instead of machining weight off different areas for balance. T.I.R. = 50 millionths, Axial = 0, cycle time 30 seconds.

In addition to Diaphragm Chuck Model DPS-5s we are pleased to introduce our Special 7" chuck for C.V. clamping. This counterbalanced diaphragm chuck has 3 pull down fingers. Jaws grip O.D. of C.V. joint while fingers pull it into the fixed axial stop for zero axial location. Chuck rotates 5 - 6,000rpm to balance C.V. joint driveshafts, T.I.R. = 50 millionths, Axial = 0, Cycle time 60 sec.

Northfield Precision designs and manufactures the world's most accurate workholding precision pneumatic Air and Diaphragm Chucks for any lathe, boring machine or grinder or VMC. Available in SAE or metric, in chuck sizes from 3" (76mm) to 18" (457mm). Accuracies of 0.001" to 0.00001" (0.254m) guaranteed.

We have come to be the Precision Workholding Source for air & diaphragm chucks with workholding leadership in accuracy, reliability, repeatability, concentricity, productivity and customer service. Quick change, thru-hole and coolant-thru chucks are available with engineered workholding consultation services for all your OEM applications. One competitive price for complete workholding system including chuck, top jaws, custom made air tube assembly, rotary joint, hoses, operating valve and accessory kit. No hidden extras.
