SenGenuity Announces Surface Acoustic Wave Wireless Temperature Sensor for OEM Integrators

Latest Innovation Provides Wireless Temperature Sensing Capabilities in Industrial Applications, Furthers Commitment to Providing Customers with Leading Edge Solutions for Harsh Environments

HUDSON, NH - February 19, 2008 - SenGenuity, a division of Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of breakthrough sensor products and solutions, today announced the general availability of its TFSS433D SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) temperature sensor for OEM system integrators for wireless temperature sensing products. The latest advancement in SenGenuity's suite of sensing solutions can be integrated to a wireless interrogator and instrumentation platform to provide a continuous audit trail for process monitoring markets to control operating costs and maintain quality standards.

The TFSS433D SAW temperature sensor is a 433.786 MHz one-port SAW resonator structure specifically designed to have a linear frequency versus temperature characteristic. With a temperature coefficient of frequency of 16.2 ppm/°C (~7028 Hz/°C), it is operable from 0 to 120°C and has an unloaded Q of 8000. It is a low loss structure (2.5 dB max) and is designed for a 50-ohm system.

"At SenGenuity we are committed to providing our customers with leading edge technologies and products. Our latest innovation affords OEMs the ability to wirelessly monitor temperature in a wide range of application environments," said Tom Cunneen, vice president and general manager, SenGenuity. "The TFSS433D is a highly accurate temperature sensor that enables OEMs to integrate precision wireless temperature measurement within their product platform."

The TFSS433D works within the ISM 43.92 MHz for the defined operating temperature range. SenGenuity's TFSS433D sensor is designed to provide instantaneous wireless temperature measurements for embedded real-time, in-line environments requiring high resolution and accuracy. The new temperature sensor uses robust and reliable semiconductor technology packaged in a standard tape and reel format. The TFSS433D demonstrates exceptional stability characteristics, pass DIN IEC 68 T2-27 specifications for shock rating and screening according to DIN IEC 68 T2-6 standards for vibration rating. Temperature stability characteristics are assured by DIN IEC 68 Part 2 - 14 Test N standards.

"SenGenuity is dedicated to providing our customers disruptive solutions able to survive harsh environments," said Kerem Durdag, director of business development, SenGenuity. "When combined with an antenna and interrogation units, this SAW sensor chip makes a great solution for numerous wireless temperature sensing applications. Future developments on this product line are focused on expanding the usable temperature range to meet a greater range of applications."
