A Green Sky is Upon Us: Niland Company Introduces a New Cutoff Luminaire Series

El Paso, Texas. In the ever growing need to retain a dark evening sky, Niland Company, outdoor lighting manufacturer since 1972, introduces a compelling yet classic series of luminaires, the Twilight Series. Each fixture is opened with a tool less lift and turn latch on a butterfly lock. The lid pivots open on a hinge and is securely held with a neoprene protected chain link, which gives clear and simple access to internal components. All Twilight Series luminaires come standard with a hydro-formed sealed optics chamber equipped with Twist 'N' Seal lamp base and quick disconnects for easy re-lamping. Each of these fixtures is classified as cut off with full cut off options available.

Constantly striving to combine antique style with cutting edge technology, Niland Company has designed the Twilight Series to not only use basic HID ballast/lamps but to enable the use of the Philips QL Induction lighting system. With its amazing 100,000 hours average life and stunning white light, the grass truly is greener. Induction lamps offer at least 3 times higher visual acuity than High Pressure Sodium (yellow light). Providing high reliability with instant hot and cold (re)start, high lumen output and ultra long life sustained with the durability and quality of the Twilight Series fixtures, no other series of antique lighting can compare. 60% savings achieved in electrical consumption delivering a product that focuses wasted up light to the ground where it belongs, saving the utility grid thousands, green sky.

According to a study conducted in 2001 by "The First World Atlas of the Artificial Night Sky Brightness" by P. Cinzano, F. Falchi and C.D. Elvidge, about two-thirds of the entire world's population lives in light polluted areas. Decreasing this up light saves energy by redirecting wasted up light down to the ground where it belongs. Many cities are now requiring that light poles and fixtures be Dark Sky Compliant with little or no light emitted above 180 degrees. Niland Company has created the industries largest offering of dark sky compliant traditional luminaires. Complete photometric data on the each of the Twilight Series fixtures is available on the Niland Company web site at http://www.nilandco.com/products/15/414.

Niland Company puts pride in the products produced in its 90,000 square foot facility and will back that with an extensive warranty. Thus, all products are constructed from all cast materials, optical systems are completely sealed eliminating contaminates from degrading light distribution, and the most extensive range of luminaires, arms, poles, and bases to suit any one of your projects.
