Offering 6 rows of function keys, W.series vandal-resistant keyboard features brushed, SS front plate that provides resistance to shock and vandalism of up to 10 J level. It is resistant to both liquid and dust penetration and includes drainage feature at rear to allow liquids to escape. Optical trackball is also sealed to IP67 standards. Antipull-off keys, allowing more than 4 million operations, are manufactured with Zamak with chrome finish.
EAO, the Expert Partner for Human Machine Interfaces, launches a new version of the W.series vandal-resistant keyboard with function keys.
The new edition to this range of mechanical, metal keyboards offers six rows of function keys. These keys perform the same, standard functions as any other office keyboard. Different language layouts are also available.
Even with an additional row of keys, the external dimensions of this new keyboard's layout are exactly the same as the already existing 5-row versions. So, existing equipment can be upgraded without any necessary design changes.
Strength and durability are the essence of this product. A brushed, stainless steel front plate provides resistance to shock and vandalism of up to a IK09 (10J) level. Also, the resistance to both liquid and dust penetration meet the IP67 standard. Its anti-pull-off keys are made from Zamak with a chrome finish and offer more than four million operations. Key markings are enhanced by the use of laser engraving which ultimately gives a higher resistance to prevent wear.
If required, the keyboard can be supplied with either an integrated numeric pad or an integral 'trackball' pointing device. The numeric pad is similar to an office keyboard while the trackball is available in three different types: stainless steel, phenolic (plastic), and optical.
The optical trackball is fully sealed to the IP67 standards. Therefore, it is resistant to liquid penetration which can include soft drinks (except milk), oils and water. A drainage feature at the rear of the unit allows for liquids to escape which maintains internal hygiene and prevents damage from possible freezing. The only moving part of the trackball in the entire assembly is the ball itself. Being optical in design, the movement of the ball is sensed directly without the need for shafts, separate encoders and opto-couplers which makes this product virtually maintenance free.
EAO's W.series keyboard range is particularly suited to the needs of any public environment applications which can include kiosks, information terminals or any harsh industrial environment. Pricing in small quantities start at slightly over $270.00 per unit.
