NKk Switches Announces M2T And M2B Miniature Switch Series

Washable PCB-Mounted Switches Available in Toggle, Rocker and Pushbutton Models

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (February 4, 2008) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices, announces the release of the M2T and M2B series miniature toggle, rocker and pushbutton switches. The affordability of these PCB-mounted devices makes them the perfect choice for design engineers facing required cost reductions, without compromising quality, integrity or high reliability. These series encompass a wide range of styles and options designed to provide engineers with the perfect switch for each application.

M2T toggles and rockers, along with M2B pushbuttons, feature an interior bushing area that is sealed with an O-ring surrounding the actuator. The ultrasonic welding of the bushing and housing unit seals out contaminants and allows wave soldering and cleaning. The bushing and top of the housing are single unit construction, giving added protection from cleaning fluids or other liquids. Terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out contaminants such as flux and solvents.

An anti-jamming feature protects the switch contact mechanism from damage due to unusual actuation force, ensuring long life and high reliability operation. All bracketed models have crimped legs to ensure secure PCB mounting and to prevent dislodging of the switch during automated processes. The contact mechanism is snap-acting, giving the M2T and M2B positive actuation, light touch, smooth feel and audible feedback. This mechanism also gives the M2T and M2B series an electrical life rating of 25,000 operations minimum for silver contacts. M2T series switches are also rated for 50,000 operations for gold contacts, while the M2B series features a rating of 100,000 operations minimum.

The M2T and M2B series are UL Recognized and CSA Certified with a flammability rating of UL94V-0. The M2T toggles and rockers are available with ratings of 6A @ 125V AC, 3A @ 250V AC, 3A @ 30V DC and 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum. The M2B pushbuttons can be specified with ratings of 1A @ 125V AC, 1A @ 30V DC or 0.4VA maximum @ 28 AC/DC maximum.

Each model can be specified single or double pole and are available in a variety of double throw circuit configurations including momentary and maintained action. The mechanical life for toggles and rockers is 100,000 operations minimum, while pushbuttons have a mechanical life of 200,000 operations minimum. The operating temperature range for all models is -30°C through +85°C (-22°F through +185°F).The numerous circuit, terminal, and actuator types, as well as the many styles and colors available, make the M2T and M2B series of toggles, rockers and pushbuttons suitable for applications in all industries.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches.
