UPS Systems deliver scalable 3-phase power protection.


February 7, 2008 - Rated from 10-40 kVA in 400/230 V, Smart-UPS® VT series offers centralized uninterruptible power protection for small data centers and other applications with dense power requirements. Up to 4 units of any capacity and redundancy can be connected in parallel and remotely managed, monitored, and controlled via Web/SNMP interface. Solutions use cool-running 3-stage inverter technology and features scalable runtime and modular design that allow for as-needed expansion.

Compact Three-Phase Power Protection with Scalable Runtime for Small Data Centers and Other Business Critical Applications

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. - January 28, 2008 - APC, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced the availability of parallel capability for its Smart-UPS VT three-phase power protection line. Providing customers with greater flexibility for capacity growth and redundancy, this new functionality makes the Smart-UPS VT ideal for small data centers, large retail stores, regional offices, wiring closets, and applications with dense power requirements. Customers can now easily expand their power protection system by connecting up to four Smart-UPS VT units in a parallel configuration in any combination of capacity and redundancy.

The Smart-UPS VT family, currently available in 10-40kVA in 400/230V, offers centralized uninterruptible power protection with the Legendary Reliability® of APC's award-winning Smart-UPS family. Its patented cool running three stage inverter technology delivers high efficiency even when operating at less than 30% load, which is typical for UPS running in parallel. The system's scalable runtime and modular design allows for easy expansion as necessary.

"Adding parallel capability to our Smart-UPS VT product combines the benefits of flexibility and efficiency as well as helps guard against the possibility of outgrowing an existing UPS," said Isabelle Guillaume, APC's vice president of Three-Phase Power Offer Management. Best-in-class efficiency and a reduction in rating of electrical infrastructure (wires, transformers, and generators) combine to make the Smart-UPS VT the most cost-effective three-phase power protection available. Dual-mains input, automatic and maintenance bypasses, intelligent battery management and input power factor correction ensure that power remains uninterrupted while keeping installation costs low.

Also, service time is greatly reduced through the use of hot-swappable batteries. Customers can manage, monitor, and control the UPSs from anywhere on their network through a simple, intuitive Web/SNMP interface.
