Intense Ltd. Announces Power Core 808, Flexible Laser Engine Chip Platform That Simplifies Custom Laser Development

San Jose, California -- 22 January 2008 -- Intense Ltd., developer of next generation lasers, has announced the Power Core 808, a new family of very high brightness, single emitter laser engine chips that are easily customized to a wide variety of optics applications. The Power Core is the most flexible laser platform in the industry. The compact design combines a small emitting aperture (100 µm) with low beam divergence to produce very high brightness in a small, simple-to-integrate, chip-level device. It is easily packaged into a variety of enclosures, including C-mount, and fiber-coupled MFP (Mini Fiber Package) and HHL (High Heat Load). The Power Core 808 delivers up to 4W of output power at 808 nm. It is designed for use in demanding industrial and coding applications, such as pumping and sensor-based instrumentation.

"Laser-based system designers are creating an astonishingly wide range of innovative products, but they frequently face the challenge of how to get the right laser for their particular needs," stated Chris Baker, VP Sales and Marketing at Intense Ltd. "Our Power Core line of laser engine chips provides high brightness, power, and reliability in a smaller, more efficient package. The Power Core provides the flexibility designers need so they can pack more lasers in a smaller area or create smaller optics products."

Featured at Photonics West, Booth 5041

The Power Core 808 is featured at Photonics West, along with the Intense-HPD Series 6000 and Series 6100 QWI enabled, high power single emitter laser diodes. The 6000 Series and 6100 Series are very high brightness, single mode lasers with up to 200 mW of kink-free power. The Series 6000 laser diodes are available in wavelengths of 830 nm ±5nm and the Series 6100 are available in wavelengths of 980 nm ±5 nm and 980 nm ±10 nm. Both are based on the company's patented Quantum Well Intermixing technology, which increases the brightness and reliability of laser diodes while avoiding the usual problems associated with catastrophic optical mirror damage. Intense Ltd., Booth 5041, Photonics West.

Availability

The Power Core 808 laser engine chips are available now. Pricing is based on quantities ordered. Other wavelengths are available on request.
