New Pyro-Paint 634-BNSC Hi-Temp Boron Nitride Coating Now Available

Valley Cottage, NY - January 11, 2008

SUMMARY

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-BNSC, a new high temperature, non-wetting, boron nitride filled coating developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to protect metal and refractory surfaces from corrosion by molten aluminum, magnesium, glass, plastic and salt in applications to 1560°F (850ºC).

FEATURES

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-BNSC is a single part, odorless, water-dispersible, boron nitride filled, high temperature coating, formulated to resist molten metals, glasses, plastics and salts in applications to 1560°F (850ºC). It is particularly effective in resisting non-ferrous metals such as molten aluminum and magnesium.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-BNSC is most frequently applied to refractory foundry structures such as crucibles, ladles, troughs, and diffusion tubes. It provides a highly lubricious and chemically resistant interface between a molten material and the underlying refractory structure, resulting in increased system life.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-BNSC is a simple to use, environmentally friendly, water-based formulation containing no volatile organic compounds. It is formulated with a high percentage of solids content, resulting in a dry film of greater than 95% boron nitride and a coverage rate of 800 sq ft/gal assuming a 1mil dry film thickness. It is easy to apply with a brush, roller or conventional spray equipment; it dries at room temperature in 1-2 hours and cures fully in 1-2 hours at 200°F. Cleanup of uncured material is accomplished easily with warm water and soap.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-BNSC is part of a line of refractory coatings based on ceramic fillers including alumino-silicate, carbon, graphite, silicon carbide, yttrium oxide, and zirconium oxide. For complete details about the Pyro-Painttm series of products, please contact Aremco's Technical Sales Department.
