Stand Up Stix are used for standard bored doors, and the Hold Up Hinge for hinged doors. "For a painting project consisting of 24-36 doors, a typical painting crew consists of 4 painters who spend 8 hours prepping and painting the doors. With these products, 2 painters can prep and paint the same doors in 2 hours," states Tom Allen, inventor.
Tom Allen, a painting contractor,invented the products because he saw a need for a simple solution for a cumbersome and difficult problem. Past methods of rigging doors for painting included nailing doors to trim pieces purchased for other contractors, damaging the door and wasting materials. Other processes included using non-reusable metal braces and expensive frames that were not cost effective.
