Press Release
Release date: January 1, 2008

Nyden Introduces a New Integrated Controller/Driver for Today's Industry-Standard 2-Phase and 4-Phase Stepper Motors.

Nyden provides Ground-Breaking Options for Today's OEMs and System Integrators with its New Integrated ICD200 Stepper Driver/Controller Series.

San Jose, CA - 1/1/08 - Nyden Corporation, a subsidiary of Mycom Incorporated, jump starts the 2008 New Year with a big bang by unveiling its latest submission to the worldwide Motion Control Systems market. The multiphase (2-Phase and 4-Phase) ICD200 Stepper Controller/Driver series is projected to elevate equipment design applications to soaring new heights on a global scale with its state-of-the-art integrated features. Carefully constructed to control the high-throughput working features of today's most advanced NEMA-sized stepper motors for a multicore range of applications, such as the design of semiconductor equipment, laser systems, aerospace-related apparatus, robotics and automated machineries, the new ICD200 DC-type Stepper Controller/Driver is expected to become an instant success in 2008, mainly due to its cost-effectiveness and highly sophisticated motion technology functionalities.

Motorizing today's most innovative high-torque and microstepping-capable stepper motors of both the 2-Phase and 4-Phase varieties, the modularly-designed ICD200 is a standalone system designed to easily execute Trapezoidal and S-curve shape (memory data) acceleration/deceleration motion profiles. It offers designers three types of operation modes: Sensor Mode, Absolute Position Mode and Relative Position Mode. The compact unit (60 x 90 x 36 mm) is rated at 1.2 Amps-per-Phase for Unipolar Stepper Motors and at 0.6 Amps-per-Phase for Bipolar Motors. The input power is 24V DC, with a power consumption of 36 watts. Furthermore, this single axis integrated system provides micro-stepping functionalities with a maximum microstepping resolution of 20,000steps/revolution. Its onboard potentiometer offers users the simplicity to easily adjust driver running currents.

Nyden's new ICD200 can be Daisy-chainable up to 15 devices using the RS485 communication protocol. Software for programming language is provided, along with a highly insightful user's manual which provides users simple steps to easily connecting the RS485 interface to the PC should designer opt to operate the system using the PC interface mode. Additional information from the easily comprehended manual instructs users to store critical data from the unit's onboard serial ROM (rewritable up to 1 million times) and to obtain data download and start command functions.

Some of the Input/Output Interface functions include: Photo-coupler Inputs, Point Starting Code Bits, Home search Start, Immediate Stop and Direction of Rotation, Current Off and an Alarm Output Sensor Interface option. The new ICD200 complements the present line of vast Motion Controller Systems designed by Nyden, a series of intelligent controllers and stepper drivers which offer users the option of running the unit via plug-and-play or initializing/programming various data parameters based upon his/her application.

Nyden Corporation, located in San Jose, California, is the R&D and sales headquarters for MYCOM, INC., of Kyoto, Japan. The company's unique approach to customer service success is achieved by the support of thousands of engineers and end-users worldwide. A multi-million dollar company, Nyden is proud to carry MYCOM's patented 5-Phase STAR Driver Stepping Systems, a series of low-cost 5-Phase stepper motors and drivers that offer increased true resolution with virtually no low speed resonance problems. The company is also the first to design the world's highest Nano-type 5-Phase Series. The NanoDrive(TM) offers users true resolution of over 500,000 steps per revolution for the highest accuracy and lowest vibration possible. Nyden Corporation supplies a new generation of motion control systems geared for every type of application. We offer 5-phase & 2-phase stepper motors with matching drivers, customized multi-axis programmable stand-alone controllers for steppers and digital servos, ISA and PCI-Bus motion controller cards, and a variety of motion-related accessories. We also work as contractors toward the design of our customers' most fundamental motion control-related application.
