VersaLogic Introduces new RoHS-Compliant "Cobra" Embedded Computers

Eugene, OR - VersaLogic Corp. today announced two new versions of their popular "Cobra" single board computer. The new Cobra products are RoHS compliant and available in both standard (0° to + 60°) and extended (-40° to + 85°) temperature versions. These new single board computers combine high performance with maximum reliability, guaranteed 5-year availability, RoHS compliance and, in the case of the extended temperature version, a tolerance for extreme conditions. The extended temperature and standard temperature Cobra are both appropriate for high-end applications in transportation, automation, medical equipment, and other areas where extreme reliability is needed.

Using the innovative Intel Pentium M® processor and 855 GME chipset, the new Cobras are complete single board computers on an EBX platform. The EBX-12p (standard temperature version) features a 1.8 GHz Pentium M processor while the EBX 12t (extended temperature version) features a 1.0 GHz Pentium M processor. Both boards include on-board support for up to 2 GB RAM, Extreme Graphics 2 video, Ethernet, USB, serial communication, and analog and digital I/O. The new boards include specialized reliability features, such as TVS devices to protect against ESD damage, a watchdog timer and CPU temperature sensor, and an OEM-enhanced, field-upgradeable embedded BIOS. Off the shelf options include Gigabit Ethernet, analog I/O, and a pass-through PC/104-Plus connector. Customizations include conformal coating, customized BIOS, and many other options.

Cobra is designed to work with embedded operating systems, including Windows CE/XP/XPe, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, DOS, and other real-time OSs. Pricing is about $1,500 in OEM quantities.
