Toshiba Teli Introduces GiantDragon GigE Vision Industrial Cameras

IRVINE, CA, December 12, 2007 -- Continuing to expand its technical leadership in machine vision, Toshiba Teli Corporation today released the GiantDragon(TM) line of Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) and GenICam compliant industrial cameras.

The GaintDragon line is comprised of nine monochrome and color models, all leveraging the economy and agility of the AIA GigE Vision open standard. This innovative design enables the real-time delivery of high bandwidth streams of non-compressed imaging data to host PCs over CAT-5e and CAT 6 cables to distances of up to 100 meters without specialized interface hardware or frame grabbers. System integrators can select from models offering up to 90 frames-per-second and resolutions as high as 1600 x 1200 (UXGA). Housings for each camera are identical, measuring a compact 44mm x 29mm x 70mm (W X H x D) and utilizing C-mount lenses, allowing for easy integration and interchanges.

"Toshiba Teli has played an important role in standardizing the GigE camera interface to assure that it meets the demanding performance requirements of our worldwide customers," explained Hideaki Konaka, General Manager, International Business Department, Toshiba Teli Corporation. "Our next generation GiantDragon GigE cameras are infused with this knowledge. As a result, GiantDragon cameras provide unprecedented speed, consistency and image quality, along with plug-and-play compatibility with low-cost components and imaging software solutions from many third-party venders, as well as Toshiba Teli's own TeliGCAM(TM) SDK software."

With features that include random shutter mode and scalable "region of Interest" (ROI), GiantDragon cameras are ideal for a wide range of industrial inspection and machine vision applications, and are especially well-suited for high-speed electronics and LCD inspection, 3-D measurement, OCR, medical imaging, gauging and intelligent transportation systems.

The cameras are expected to be available 1Q 2008.
