The Millermatic® Passport® Plus Offers a Portable MIG Welding Solution for Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminum

APPLETON, Wis., December 17, 2007-Miller Electric Mfg. Co.'s new Millermatic® Passport® Plus all-in-one MIG welder provides a superior arc in an ultra portable and lightweight (45 lbs.) package. Like the original Passport it replaces, the Passport Plus has an impressive arc on mild and stainless steel, but the new model also offers excellent performance on aluminum. In combination with the new direct connect Spoolmate(TM) 100 Series spool gun, the Passport Plus provides outstanding welding performance on 18 gauge through 1/4" aluminum. A three-position material selection switch sets optimal arc characteristics for steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

The Millermatic Passport Plus was designed for those in maintenance, light fabrication, HVAC, auto body, construction and others who require great arc performance in an extremely portable package. For the ultimate flexibility, the Passport Plus features Miller's exclusive multi-voltage plug (MVP) and Auto-Line power management technology. This enables the unit to connect to either 115 or 230 V power simply by changing to the correct screw-in plug. No tools are required and there is no need to rewire or remove the cover and relink the power source.

The Passport Plus can carry up to an 8-in. spool of wire and an internal 12 oz. bottle of CO2 for approximately 25 minutes worth of arc time on mild steel. It can be connected to an external supply of shielding gas when bulk gas is available or when using argon to weld aluminum.

"People, especially those in maintenance, like the Passport's portability and performance on steel and stainless steel, but increasingly they need to weld aluminum," says Jon Ertmer, Product Manager, Miller Electric Mfg. Co. "Now they can. The Passport Plus takes advantage of the Spoolmate 100 Series' capabilities to provide superior performance on aluminum as well as mild and stainless steel."
