Rino Industries Ltd has recently introduced a range of cold formed hexagon nuts into their newly launched mechanical drive components catalogue.
Barb nuts are cold formed hexagon nuts combined with external shakeproof washers and Carp nuts are the same except they are combined with conical spring washers.
Both fasteners have the following advantages over the separate application of a traditional washer and nut -
o One operation instead of two
o Half the labour cost
o Increased productivity, the company states
o Easier installation in difficult and confined spaces
o Simpler stock keeping and inventory control
The nuts are made from low carbon steel SAE 1010 with a Rockwell Hardness of C-30 maximum, and the washers are SAE1050-1065 and have a hardness within HRC40-46 max. The washers are free to rotate on the nuts and all are available in either a yellow or white chromate finish.
