BEA Enables Delivery of Real-Time Information as a Service with BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0

Integrated, Easy-to-Use Solution Designed to Help Organizations Get the Right Information to the Right People, Processes and Applications

Core News Facts:

1. With the release of BEA AquaLogic(R) Data Services Platform 3.0, BEA delivers the industry-leading platform for quickly and cost-effectively aggregating data from multiple data sources in real-time. 2. BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 is designed to help organizations more easily and efficiently access, update, integrate, secure and re-use real-time enterprise data services for business information projects such as "single view of the customer," "product information management," "customer data integration" and "data mash-ups for collaboration applications." 3. BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 offers new features focused on information as a service strategy enablement, complete information service life cycle management and scalable, bi-directional information services.

SHANGHAI, China, Dec. 12 -- BEAWorld -- BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced the availability of BEA AquaLogic(R) Data Services Platform 3.0, the industry-leading platform for transforming heterogeneous, siloed enterprise data into integrated, bi-directional, reusable information services. Regardless of where the data sources natively reside within an organization, BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 based solution is designed to deliver real-time, accurate information to people, processes and applications in a centralized and trusted manner.

"Given the rapid growth of enterprise data variety and volume, an organization's competitive edge is not what it makes but what it knows -- but information visibility and access is often constrained by the company's fragmented and diverse data architectures," said Thanh Tran, senior vice president, AquaLogic Products, BEA Systems. "The availability of BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 speaks to our commitment to enabling information as a service so that our customers can have the advantage of delivering the right information to the right people at the right time."

The new features in BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0, including easy-to-use Eclipse-based modelling, are designed to help decrease time-to-value and reduce costs by improving productivity and by eliminating data inconsistency errors. Specifically, BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 is designed to support the information as a service strategy component of any service-oriented architecture (SOA), business process management or portal implementation. As an information service technology that supports the creation of bi-directional (read-and-write) information service from multiple data sources, BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 offers the breakthrough ability to graphically model both simple and complex updates to heterogeneous data sources by eliminating coding.

"Success in loyalty marketing hinges on a number of factors, including consumer convenience and access to timely information," said Paul Citarella, director of enterprise architecture at Synapse Group. "We use BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform to enhance the customer experience by leveraging data in our campaign and order-processing systems to create a consistent view of customer order information across both the web and phone channels. With so many promotions and offers available at any given time in a multi-channel environment, it's not easy to enable a consistent self-service experience. BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform is helping us reduce overhead, improve customer satisfaction and retention and drive new revenue."

BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform is designed to help organizations more easily and efficiently access, update, integrate, secure and re-use real-time enterprise data services for business information initiatives such as "single view of the customer," "product information management," "customer data integration" and "data mash-ups for collaboration applications." Additionally, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and other regulations require ever-increasing control over enterprise data access and related dependencies. To address these issues, the standards-based BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 is designed to help provide enhanced compliance and control over data, while reducing the complexity involved in building and maintaining information services.

New capabilities and key customer benefits of BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 include:

-- Information as a Service Enablement -- Information services help to improve data re-use and reduce data inconsistency errors. An information services layer promotes the independence of front-end applications from changes to back-end data sources leading to better flexibility and agility in the architecture.
-- Complete Information Service Life Cycle Management -- Powerful Eclipse-based tool used to model, design, test, deploy and manage information services in order to help transform siloed enterprise data into reusable, integrated business information in real-time.
-- Bi-directional Information Services -- Ability to access heterogeneous data sources. Enhanced data update capabilities help enforce transactional and data integrity across all data sources accessed.

Availability

BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform 3.0 is scheduled to be available early 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.bea.com/dataservices.
