RFID Module suits IP20 cabinet or IP67 field installations.

December 17, 2007 - Complimenting BL20 and BL67 network I/O systems, 2RFID Module enables up to 8 channels to be added to single BL ident code, depending on system requirements. All channels operate in parallel so there is no time delay during communication between data carrier and module. Additionally, 32 kByte memory allows asynchronous processing of individual read/write commands, while LEDs display diagnostics for RFID channels and fieldbus-specific diagnostic messages.

Modular RFID Expands in the Cabinet or on the Machine I/O with One Gateway

Minneapolis, Minn. - TURCK introduces a new 2RFID module for its BL ident RFID system that compliments its existing BL20 and BL67 network I/O systems. "BL ident's modular design provides flexible integration into new or existing TURCK systems," says Mark DiSera, product marketing manager for TURCK's network and interface division. "This modularity provides customization in both IP 20 rated cabinet installations and IP 67 rated field installations."

Up to 8 channels can be added to a single BL ident node, depending on the system requirements. All channels operate in parallel so that there is no time delay during communication between the data carrier and module. Adds DiSera, "The ability to add multiple channels makes the system more affordable, because you only incur the cost of one gateway. Additional standard I/O modules may also reside in the same rack configuration-all while providing IP 20 or IP 67 protection." BL ident is available with 2, 4, 6 or 8 channels.

The BL ident RFID system may be integrated into existing networks, including PROFIBUS-DP®, DeviceNet(TM), Modbus-TCP, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP(TM). Standard function modules and/or sample code are available for integration into the control and fieldbus environment. Additional functions, such as intentional switch-off of individual read/write heads, are inherent when the heads are installed in close proximity with overlapping air interface areas. Furthermore, a 32 kByte memory allows asynchronous processing of the individual read/write commands, and LEDs display diagnostics for the individual RFID channels and fieldbus-specific diagnostic messages.
