Press Release
Release date: December 3, 2007

Metrologic Releases MS9590 VoyagerGS(TM) Featuring Trigger Design

BLACKWOOD, N.J., Dec. 3 /-- Metrologic Instruments, Inc. today announced the release of the newest addition to the world's best-selling series of hand-held, single-line laser scanners. The MS9590 VoyagerGS, featuring a trigger design, provides aggressive bar code scanning for general-purpose linear bar code applications like those commonly found in retail, healthcare, government, and office environments. Orders for the device will begin shipping worldwide the week of December 16.

"Metrologic spent more than a year soliciting worldwide customer feedback on the overall design of the VoyagerGS," said Mark Schmidt, Metrologic's vice president of product management and marketing. "This feedback resulted in the development of a lightweight and ergonomic scanner that's small enough to fit comfortably into any sized hand, yet durable enough to withstand the challenges of continual use."

The response from Metrologic's global channel partners has been positive.

"The VoyagerGS fills a void in Metrologic's hand-held scanner offerings," said Andrew Wey, CEO of Quad GmbH, a leading German business partner. "The proven success of the Voyager brand in a new gun-shaped form factor will allow us to rationalize our product line and deliver bar code scanning solutions from a single global supplier."

To date, Metrologic has shipped more than three million MS9500 Voyager(R) scanners in its many wireless and tethered configurations worldwide.

"The VoyagerGS improves on the successful Voyager product platform with a 25%-faster scanning speed and a working range that's 50% longer," Schmidt added. "These advancements combine to offer retailers optimized performance in applications common to grocery stores and home-and-garden centers such as under-the-cart scanning."

Where product "shrink" is a concern, customers have the option of integrating an Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) antenna for deactivating security tags and decoding bar codes simultaneously. The VoyagerGS is also available with a versatile "flex" stand for hands-free scanning of small items and hang tags. The stand automatically senses the scanner the moment the two are joined together.

The VoyagerGS joins the industry-leading lineup of Voyager, VoyagerCG(TM), VoyagerPDF(TM), VoyagerHD(TM) and VoyagerBT(TM).
