News Story

PXI Switch Matrix is offered in solid-state version.

December 3, 2007 - Available in 2-, 4, and 8-slot BRICs, 40-563 PXI switch matrix features solid-state switches that have continuous current rating of 0.25 A and can sustain inrush currents of 0.75 A for 100 ms. Switches ensure rise and fall times of typ 20 ms without contact bounce, and each switch has typical on resistance of 0.8 W, providing typ path resistance under 2.5 W between X axis connections. Model 40-563 is available in matrix sizes from 64x8-384x8.

Pickering Adds Solid State Switching to the BRIC Range

Clacton on Sea, UK, November 2007, Pickering Interfaces is expanding its range of PXI switch matrix solutions with the introduction of a new solid state switching version of the BRIC, the 40-563.

The new solid state matrix is available in 2, 4 and 8 slot BRICs and offers a perfect solution for applications that benefit from the characteristics of solid state switches and large matrix requirements. The solid state switches in the 40-563 have a continuous current rating of 0.25 A and can sustain inrush currents of 0.75 A for 100 ms. The switches ensure fast rise and fall times of typically 20 ms without contact bounce. Each switch has a typical on resistance of 0.8 ohms providing a typical path resistance of less than 2.5 ohms between X axis connections.

The 40-563 is available in matrix sizes from 64x8 to 384x8. Other configurations can be supplied on request.

These solid state matrices are particularly suitable for applications requiring hot switching since the FET based switches can sustain short term inrush currents and full load operation without any degradation in operational life.
