Sigma-Aldrich Announces mirPremier(TM) microRNA Isolation Kit for miRNA Purification

Provides researchers tool for 50% faster miRNA preparation with no detectable large RNA and further supports Sigma's commitment to the rapidly developing area of RNAi

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 1 /- Sigma-Aldrich(TM) (NASDAQ:SIAL) is pleased to introduce mirPremier(TM) microRNA Isolation Kit (http://www.sigma.com/mirna) for purification of miRNA from diverse biological sources. The kit provides a rapid and efficient method for purifying and enriching miRNA along with other small RNAs, allowing researchers to obtain high-quality miRNA directly from cells or tissues as rapidly and simply as a total RNA preparation.

Using mirPremier microRNA Isolation Kit, researchers can purify miRNA/small RNA from diverse biological materials, including mammalian cell cultures, animal tissues, microbial cultures and plant tissues. mirPremier also allows researchers to purify miRNA/small RNA with high yield from difficult-to-extract tissues, such as grape leaf.

The mirPremier microRNA Isolation Kit can be used for isolating total RNA if messenger RNA or other large RNAs are of interest. In addition, mirPremier microRNA Isolation Kit provides an easy-to-use protocol, allowing scientists to purify miRNA within 30 minutes.

"Timely extraction of miRNA from cells or tissues is critical for downstream applications. The mirPremier microRNA Isolation Kit provides a robust protocol for quick extraction of miRNA, making the mirPremier an ideal solution for rapid preparation of miRNA," said Dr. David Smoller, President of the Sigma-Aldrich Research Biotech Business Unit. "We're very pleased to add this new product to Sigma-Aldrich's growing MISSION(R) RNAi portfolio, as it further supports our strong commitment to the rapidly developing area of RNAi."

"Isolation of miRNA and other small RNAs using the mirPremier microRNA Isolation Kit yields a highly pure and concentrated sample, using a simplified and streamlined protocol without the need of hazardous organic solvents such as phenol and chloroform," said Tim Fleming, Director, Global Commercial Marketing - Life Science for Sigma-Aldrich. "Unlike other miRNA purification methods, mirPremier provided highly purified miRNA samples with no detectable large RNA."

The mirPremier microRNA Isolation Kit complements the already robust MISSION RNAi product portfolio, which includes a broad choice of MISSION siRNA and shRNA products and services such as libraries, mRNA detection reagents, antibodies and AQUA peptides for protein level detection as well as an entire workflow of supporting reagents (cell culture, cell biology compounds and assays, transfection reagents, and much more).
