Moisture Measurement System offers auto ranging capability.

November 8, 2007 - Consisting of wall-mounted console, NIR Sensor with power box, or RF sensor with oscillator box, BSP-901 Continuous On-Line System measures moisture from 0-80% ±0.02-0.2% in variety of environments. Single-channel analyzer stores 5 separate 3-point calibration tables for multiple products utilizing nonvolatile battery-backed memory. System reports 7 moisture calculations/sec, while programmable smoothing function minimizes undesired output fluctuations by averaging readings.

Moisture Register Announces Enhancements to BSP-901 NIR Moisture Measure and Control System

New look, auto ranging capability and lower profile makes for more accurate, easy to use measurements

LaVerne, CA, Nov. 5, 2007 - Moisture Register Products, a division of Aqua Measure Instrument Company, announced product enhancements to its popular BSP-901 near infrared (NIR) Continuous On-line Moisture measure and Control System including a new auto ranging system and low-profile attachment. The BSP-901 is used to measure moisture in a variety of environments and industries, including use with products such as sawdust, laundry detergent, iron ore, potato chips, milk powder, corn meal, and many, many more.

With its optional low profile NIR optional attachment, the BSP-901 can be mounted at locations where the clearance is not sufficient for the installation of most sensors. Typical application sites for the BSP-901include conveyors (flat belt or screw), static samples, moving webs, and hopper-drop chutes.

The BSP-901 stores five separate three-point calibration tables for multiple products on a single line, utilizing a nonvolatile battery-backed memory to safely store the calibration data. The system reports seven moisture calculations per second, and the programmable smoothing function reduces undesired output fluctuations by averaging those readings. The sealed touch keyboard not only allows convenient data entry, and a clear, easy to read LED display provides direct read-outs in percent moisture content. With its simplified optics, there are no mirrors or lenses to align and the optional dust shield, recommended for dusty environments, prevents dust build-up on the NIR Sensor, assuring quality, drift-free readings.

For continuous on-line analysis, proportional-integral-derivative (PID) closed loop feedback control, or in the lab for static testing, the BSP-901 utilizes auto ranging to adjust the NIR sensor to an optimum operating level for reliable processing.

The BSP-901 system is a single-channel continuous analyzer based on a highly reliable microprocessor. The system consists of three components: the wall mounted console, an NIR Sensor with a power box, or RF sensor with an oscillator box. The system measures a moisture range of zero to 80 percent with a plus/minus of 0.02 to 0.2 percent, depending on product and moisture range under measurement. The wall mounted console measures 12" x 10.5" x 5", weighs only 13.5 pounds, and is available with either a 120V AC/60Hz or 230 VAC/50Hz power requirement. The sensor specification enables it to operate with a maximum temperature of 122 degrees F (50 degrees C) and a minimum of 30 degree F (0 degrees C). A variety of options are available including a remote operator and software, a plastic window collar kit (for food applications) and the Opto-Port Attachment for NIR Sensor for difficult sample handling such as screw or free fall conveyers.

The latest generation BSP-901 is available now.
