Metabo's New 610-Watt Hammer Drill Increases Durability With Die-Cast Aluminum Gear Housing, Exceptional Exhaust Routing

WEST CHESTER, Pa., September 2007 -- Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has released the new SBE610 hammer drill that features a robust die-cast aluminum gear housing for increased durability, improving the tool's dissipation of heat and increasing its service life.

With a weight of only 4.5 lbs and a powerful 610-watt motor, the new hammer drill offers fatigue-free and comfortable operation when working with materials such as concrete, metal, wood, brick and tile. The SBE610 is ideal for numerous applications in the gas, water and electrical utilities as well as, heating installation and construction industries.

The tool's ergonomic design, including a rubberized handle and compact construction, creates a perfectly balanced machine for improved safety, comfort and performance. Metabo's new hammer drill also features greater drilling performance and an innovative exhaust routing feature to circulate air downward and toward the front of the tool to re-route dust and debris away from the tool's motor and its user.

The SBE610's maximum impact rate of 6,200 per minute is up to 25% more than similar models. Rated at 5 amps, with 5 Nm of torque and a no-load speed of 3,100 per minute, the tool provides a maximum drilling diameter of 1/2" in concrete, 3/8" in steel and 3/4" in soft wood. Sufficient spacing between the drill chuck and the gear housing enables easy drill chuck changes for increased tool flexibility.

Each SBE610 comes with a drilling depth stop gauge, a removable side handle for increased operator control and a heavy-duty plastic carrying case. Optional accessories include a wide variety of carbide tipped hammer drill bits, and a snap-on hook for hanging the tool from scaffolding or a ladder.
