GigaFin Networks Launches New Security and Traffic Management Appliances to Secure and Optimize Internal Networks

Offers Increased Security, Visibility and Control of Traffic within Datacenters and Server Farms

CUPERTINO, Calif., Oct. 18 -- GigaFin Networks(TM), the leader in internal security and traffic management solutions for datacenters and server farms, today announced two new products: the FlowLine 500 and the SlimLine 100. Both appliances introduce high-performance traffic monitoring, flow management, firewall and Denial-of-Service prevention in a compact form factor and at economical price points. The new product line continues to support GigaFin Network's goal of offering the most cost-effective solutions to meet the demands of today's networks.

Traditional perimeter defenses and network optimization architectures no longer are a viable option for datacenters consisting of many complex internal networks and server farms running at Gigabit speeds. As peer-to-peer traffic within the network increases, the distribution of malicious code and impact to network performance has become an additional overhead. Finally, due to the nature of datacenter networks, solutions must offer scalability, reliability and a compelling total cost of ownership. The new GigaFin Networks appliances provide solutions where critical application traffic can be optimized, yet malicious traffic can be detected and stopped.

The GigaFin Networks FlowLine 500 and SlimLine 100 provide traffic monitoring and management that every network administrator needs to efficiently manage increasing speeds and internal security threats. By ensuring networks are run efficiently, administrators can significantly improve the user experience.

FlowLine 500 and SlimLine 100 key features include:
-- Traffic monitoring (NetFlow v5) and flow tracking enables administrators to identify abuse of network traffic and malicious activity down to the source
-- Peer-to-peer application identification (BitTorrent, eDonkey, Winny, etc.) enables administrators to control a primary distribution mechanism of malicious content
-- Traffic shaping and QoS give administrators a high-performance tool to increase application performance by prioritizing critical traffic
-- Denial-of-Service prevention and firewall features provide increased security and protection of critical assets on the internal network and in server farms
-- A compact form factor consuming only 15 Watts of power lowers the total cost of ownership for GigaFin Networks appliances by one-tenth the cost of existing solutions

Additional features available only on FlowLine 500:
-- Integrated hardware bypass for maximum uptime in case of loss of power to the appliance
-- Dedicated Ethernet port for out of band management and monitoring

"The launch of these new products underscores our execution on a customer-focused strategy and our ability to develop a leading-class product portfolio in the high performance traffic monitoring and security arena," said William Thomas, CEO of GigaFin Networks. "Our product development strategy is designed to provide integrated solutions for datacenters and server farms, and help solve some of the performance bottlenecks in academic and research institutions and service provider networks."

GigaFin Networks FlowLine and SlimLine appliances offer the greatest visibility into network flows and unprecedented protection for datacenters and mission-critical servers. Extremely economical price points, lowest power consumption for Gigabit appliances and the smallest of form factors allow the appliances to be deployed at multiple critical points throughout the network overcoming the limitations of existing network appliances.

Pricing and Availability

The GigaFin Networks FlowLine 500 and SlimLine 100 will be available beginning in November through authorized GigaFin partners. MSRP for the FlowLine 500 is $3,495 and the SlimLine 100 is $2,795.
