RFID Control suits multi-product assembly lines.

October 25, 2007 - Designed to automatically make control decisions, TROMR8 RFID Programmable Relay Controller lets user run different processes for different products on same line. Tags can be temporarily attached to product or permanently embedded, and are readable even when hidden. When passive RFID tag comes within range of reader antenna, information is transmitted to TROMR8, which activates up to eight 240 Vac, 4 A relays, turning on lights, switches, and solenoids depending on tag read.

Intersoft Announces Out-Of-The Box RFID Control For Conveyor Belt Routers, Sorting Conveyors, And Multi-Product Assembly Lines

The TROMR8 RFID Programmable Relay Controller is a self-contained system, providing 20 million operations with a demo kit for easy development. A great alternative to expensive vision systems, or anywhere automation is needed for multiple decision-action scenarios, the TROMR8 automatically makes control decisions and lets you run different processes for different products all on the same line.

With the TROMR8, products can carry their own assembly instructions. With multiple RFID Programmable Relay Controllers (Up to 32 TROMR8 can be connected to a single 4,000 ft cable), components can be routed from work cell to work cell automatically, creating a complex, flexible assembly line.

The rugged tags can be temporarily attached to your product or permanently embedded. They are still readable even when hidden in carrier sheets or totes. They can withstand high temperatures and extreme environments and substances such as paint, dirt, oil, water, and plastics do not affect the read.

The TROMR8 board performs all functions necessary for reading RFID tags. It continuously powers, reads, and decodes transponders that are within its reading range. Whenever our passive RFID tag comes within range of the reader antenna, its information is transmitted to the TROMR8. When this tag number is read, it activates up to eight 240VAC,4A relays (for 256 possible combinations), turning on lights, switches and solenoids depending on tag read.

A single antenna is required for powering and reading the transponders. Proper value and shape of the antenna are installation-dependent and can be determined by the user. The nominal resonant frequency is 125 kHz.

Communication is via a RS485 or RS232 serial interface. Power Requirements are 24VDC, 90mA (min) to 250mA (max). Latency is 33ms, nominal (17 ms minimum). Read distance is tag-dependent, but 1-28 inch nominal. ROHS-compliant.
