New SCSR Features Serial Communications and "Keeps a Handle on System Control"

WEYMOUTH, MA - The new Series 24 Serial Control Switch Relay (SCSR) from Electroswitch facilitates remote control and monitoring of circuit breakers, while retaining local control through a manual trip/close handle. An addressable network device with certified DNP 3.0, the SCSR combines the functions of various other devices and provides remote trip-coil monitoring (single or dual), sequence-of-events reporting, system battery monitoring, and self-diagnostic reporting.

The SCSR can also save money by freeing up RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), reducing point-to-point wiring, simplifying testing and commissioning, and minimizing training. The SCSR's color LEDs indicate breaker position (also indicated with a built-in mechanical target flag), breaker-trip-coil integrity, serial-bus transmission/reception, and local/remote mode.

Electroswitch will configure the SCSR with up to 6 decks, each containing 2 isolated contacts enclosed in molded phenolic insulators. Rotor contacts are double-wiping and constructed of silver inlay phosphor-bronze. Stationary contacts are silver-plated with integral screw-type terminals. Each contact is designed to handle full rated current (30A/600V continuous). Trip/close hold time can range from 1 to 3 seconds serially selectable. Baud rate can range from 1200 to 19,200. Transient protection meets the standards of IEEE C37.90.1 and IEC 61000-4-4. Switching action is 45° spring return to normal. Mounting can be panel or 3-hole.

Prices start at $1,000 with delivery quoted at 4 to 6 weeks ARO.

Electroswitch is the industry leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of tough, reliable switches, relays, and other electrical systems products for utility, industrial, and military environments. The Electroswitch line of standard products is complemented by the company's proven ability and willingness to modify, custom design, and test their switches and relays for virtually any application. The company takes pride in meeting customer delivery requirements, no matter how stringent.
