Lumigent Introduces Most Comprehensive PCI Solution as Imminent Major PCI Deadlines Loom
New Lumigent PCI Advantage Pack Addresses Several Critical PCI Requirements Enabling Merchants and Financial Companies to Avoid Severe Financial Penalties
ACTON, Mass., Oct. 2 -- Lumigent Technologies, Inc., a recognized industry leader in enterprise data auditing for compliance and security, today announced the availability of the Lumigent PCI Advantage Pack, the industry's most comprehensive PCI solution that addresses several of the most difficult requirements associated with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
Created by several of the major credit and debit card companies, PCI DSS defines the requirements for the storage, processing and transmission of cardholder data. Failure to follow these requirements can result in severe financial penalties, possible data thefts and corresponding damage to brand reputation.
"Early market offerings for PCI solutions were incomplete," said Cliff Pollan, CEO of Lumigent. "Retailers and financial companies have been waiting for a mature solution that can broadly cover all of their data-related PCI needs. We believe that with the Lumigent PCI Advantage Pack we have created the industry's most detailed, secure audit trail that cannot be compromised in regards to PCI requirements."
Lumigent's announcement is timely as important PCI deadlines occur through December. Specifically, Level 1 retailers, defined by PCI as conducting six million or more annual card transactions, need to be in compliance with the PCI Standard this month. Failure to be in compliance can result in fines up to $250,000 a month. Level 2 retailers, defined as conducting one to six million annual card transactions, have until the end of this year to be in compliance.
"We're offering customers unmatched coverage of key PCI requirements that is not possible with a stand-alone appliance or data monitoring solution," said Roger Hodskins, vice president of marketing and alliances at Lumigent. "The Lumigent PCI Advantage Pack enables companies to immediately address their PCI needs today and on an ongoing basis. Built upon our award winning Audit DB architecture, the PCI Advantage Pack can scale to match our customers' largest PCI monitoring needs with no negative impact to production systems."
The Lumigent PCI Advantage Pack is a powerful data auditing and compliance solution that provides broad coverage for PCI requirements due to its combination of vulnerability assessment and continuous database monitoring capabilities. An out-of-the box solution that can also be customized as needed, the Lumigent PCI Advantage Pack provides immediate value by providing real-time alerts and automated detailed reports for key PCI requirements including:
-- Requirement 2: Do not use vendor-supplied defaults for system passwords and other security parameters. Alerts detect deviations to security policies; reports validate that defaults have been removed
-- Requirement 6: Develop and maintain secure systems and applications. Alerts detect out-of-date data patch levels and reports compare implemented patches to their release dates, providing proof that patches are being installed within one month
-- Requirement 7: Restrict access to data by business need-to-know. Alerts detect unauthorized access; reports show violations in data usage policies (e.g. access attempts and modifications to sensitive data)
-- Requirement 8: Assign a unique ID to each person with computer access. Alerts show changes to privileged user accounts that deviate from the baseline; reports validate that all users have unique IDs and that account activity has been reconciled against approved changes
-- Requirement 10: Track and monitor all access to network resources and cardholder data. Alerts notify of unauthorized user access and reports trace cardholder database access to named users, capture privileged user activities and report on failed log-ins
-- Requirement 12: Maintain a policy that addresses information security for employees and contractors. Summary reports provide metrics of policy violation exceptions, automatically tabulate policy violation metrics and are distributed to management
The resulting detailed, automated audit trails can be retained online for a period of time (e.g., 90 days as called for in the PCI DSS requirements) and then archived and saved for as long as needed.
