Invensys Digital Recorders Provide Secure, Adaptable Process Data Management

Houston, TX - October 2, 2007 -- Invensys has introduced a line of digital data recorders that collect and manage process variable information to optimize process production and regulatory accountability. The Foxboro 6100 Data Management Series incorporates advanced digital technologies to provide ease of use, high security and adaptability to a wide range of production processes, including batch applications.

The Foxboro 6100 Series paperless data recorders feature extended input capability to communicate with up to 32 slave devices, providing up to 176 inputs. The slave devices can be used for data acquisition for variable process information including pressure, flow, temperature, and electro-chemical analysis such as pH and conductivity measurements. Slave units can also provide remote access to legacy product data, and combined recording and process control functionality. The process value input can be divided between as many as 12 different groups for a broad range of data viewing and reporting.

The Foxboro 6100 Series can be used in stand-alone applications or easily integrated into a larger system. Adaptable functionality allows the 6100 series to operate as a Modbus master or slave over both serial and Ethernet connections at the same time. Slave devices can be connected to any of the ports and data recorded and made available to supervisory systems over the Ethernet network.

The Foxboro 6100 data recorder series offers "best-in-class" security for data logging, data archiving and user access. Data is stored in a secure, binary, check summoned format to protect data integrity. For complete traceability, the 6100 series provides an audit trail and recorded login feature, which records every transaction when users logon, complete operations or change the configuration. The 6100 series also supports Electronic Signatures in accordance with 21 CFR part11.

In addition to digital data acquisition and management, the Foxboro 6100 series has powerful batch functionality that can run up to 12 simultaneous batches. Batches can be started and stopped independently and each batch has up to 10 fields to enter data.

The Foxboro 6100 series includes two models. The basic Model 6100 AF includes a 5.5-inch ¼ VGA 16-bit color display with touch screen; up to 18 universal inputs, up to 12 relays, and up to 146 communication inputs. For more robust applications, the Model 6180AF includes a 12.1-inch XGA 16-bit color display with touch screen; up to 48 universal inputs, up to 27 relays, and up to 176 communication inputs.

For more information on the Foxboro 6100 Data Management Series, readers can contact their local Invensys/Foxboro representative, visit the Foxboro Measurements and Instruments Web Site at www.foxboro.com/instrumentation or call 866-746-6477 (508-549-2424 outside the U.S. and Canada).
