Smallest Fuse for Overcurrent Protection

USF 0402 is perfect for secondary circuits where space is critical.

SANTA ROSA, Calif., September 7, 2007 - Schurter Inc. announces the USF 0402 surface mount fuse, making it the smallest new member to its USF family. This tiny new addition performs with a Super Quick Acting (FF) characteristic at rated currents ranging from 0.375 - 4A at 32 VDC, 5A at 24 VDC.

The USF 0402 provides optimal overcurrent protection in extremely dense secondary circuits, such as those found in consumer electronics. Compared to like products on the market, it provides increased reliability because of its ability to dissipate less heat. Typical applications are battery operated handheld and portable electronic devices, like laptops, cell phones, GPS systems, PDA's and many other devices that have demand for increasingly smaller components.

The Schurter USF range of chip fuses includes the 0402, 0603 and 1206. The size of the 0402 measures a fractional 1.05 mm x .55mm x 0.475 and is 2-3 times smaller than the 0603. A letter marking on each fuse indicates its current rating to ensure tracking of the proper fuse through the production process. The fuse is UL 248-14 approved and carries cURus approval. It also holds a Free of CCC certificate from China. Terminals are gold-plated copper alloy. The USF 0402 comes packaged in tapes of 1K, 5K or 15K pieces on reels. Delivery is stock to 12 weeks, depending on volume. Pricing starts at $0.18 each per 1000 pieces.
