ROMER Releases INFINITE 5012 Measuring Arm

North Kingstown, Rhode Island, September 25, 2007. ROMER Inc., a Hexagon Metrology company, has released the ultra-portable INFINITE 5012, a 1.2 meter/4 foot model of its flagship measuring arm line. With all the performance and flexibility of its larger siblings, the 5012 excels at small jobs where its light weight and small footprint are required. Possible applications include benchtop measuring anywhere needed, CAD-Compare or quick dimensional checks inside a machine tool, desktop engineering, and more.

Featuring WIFI connectivity and onboard battery power, the INFINITE 5012 delivers true "go anywhere" portability without cables. Instead of a counterbalance, as on the larger-size INFINITE models, the 5012 features an integrated tungsten counterweight which delivers light-touch ergonomics and fluid motion, making the unit effortless to use. Automatic probe detection, a feature of all ROMER arms, allows quick probe changes without re-calibration. Finally, ROMER's patented "infinite rotation" means a user never has to stop because they've reached the end of the arm's travel.

The INFINITE 5012 is available with any of ROMER's standard software packages, including PC-DMIS Portable, DOCS and Delcam PowerInspect. A short video showing the true portability of the 5012 is available on ROMER's website at http://us.romer.com/ See how the 5012 can be unpacked from its flight case, set up, inspect a part, and packed up again in less than 2 minutes-INFINITE portability.
