Composite Advantage Uses Modified Processing Techniques to Produce Large Composite Structural Panels

DAYTON, Ohio - (August 29, 2007) - Composite Advantage LLC (CA) has developed modified processing techniques and combined them with a patented core material to manufacture cost-effective, large Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite parts for structurally demanding applications. A new specialty product, CA's innovations make it the only manufacturer producing these very large composite parts.

Corrosion resistant and lighter yet stronger than traditional materials, CA's load bearing composite panels provide a robust alternative for containers, walls, floors, walkways, storage sheds, equipment pads and trench covers and are especially suited for customers facing weight constraints or corrosion issues. Composite Advantage can build structural panels using solid laminates or sandwich construction with fiberglass skins surrounding a fiber-reinforced core.

Solid laminates are available in sizes up to one inch thick. Sandwich skins, 0.075 inch to 1.0 inch thick, have cores available in sizes up to eight inches. Cores are reinforced with a fiberglass truss structure to provide excellent shear strength and crushing resistance. Ultraviolet inhibitors added to the resin provide long term resistance to outdoor exposure. CA can also incorporate fire and moisture resistant resins. Color pigments can be tailored to customer preference.

Available in a variety of surface textures, CA offers composite panels as large as 45 feet by 14 feet. As light as one-fifth the weight of concrete, CA's composite panels reduce or all but eliminate the need for heavy-duty installation equipment normally required to manipulate and place pre-fabricated structures made from traditional materials. In many cases, the composite panels can be placed by hand.

Composite Advantage is a leading manufacturer of cost-effective, large fiber reinforced composite parts for structurally demanding applications. By combining its expertise in closed molding technologies with efficient manufacturing processes, Composite Advantage provides customers with results that solve technical challenges and surpass job requirements. Primarily manufacturing for the infrastructure and corrosion industries, Composite Advantage goes beyond simple panels to build large, complex parts that incorporate the finishing and assembly details customers need to reduce installation costs. Composite Advantage products range from large structural walls and panels, vehicle and pedestrian bridge decks to concrete forms, pads and mats. A comprehensive source for composite manufacturing using closed molding technologies including Vacuum Infusion and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), Composite Advantage's technical expertise and efficient manufacturing processes allow the company to maintain a strong presence in the global marketplace while filling industry demands for high quality structural products.
